Question Any experience with Side Marker Lights?

I've scanned through topics and threads and see everyone talking about AE's, tail lights, interior lights, license plate lights.... but I have never seen a topic on the side markers.

On silver and white vehicles they aren't to bad. But they stick out like deformed appendages on dark color cars.

What have people done? LED bulbs? Depo lights?

Kind of curious.

I was thinking about grabbing these. Do you have any videos or pics at a little bit of a distance? Trying to get a better idea of how they look lot up.

How easy is it to remove the stock ones and install these? Any DIY links which doesn't involve removing the fender, etc.?

Also does it come with the bulbs?

Might want to check with local law before you end up buying them and getting a ticket.

Front what I've read, it's better to just take off your stock side markers, replace the bulb with one that isn't amber while unlit, and tink the lens using spray tint or some other diy tint.

The reason being is that the ebay and other aftermarket markers tend to leak and allow water inside.

Yes they are just held in with a spring basically you just push it towards the back of the car and then it pops out. It comes with the leds installed and a connector that fit into the OEM bulb socket - no errors or dash lights.

pics attached.

Couldn't agree with you more about how bad they look on a black car. This is my post on the subject from just a few weeks ago:

Paint side marker backing plate http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.phpt=965218

I got the smoked LED side markers from European Auto Source for $40. The side markers simply pop out and you just attach the new ones and pop the whole unit back in. After a week of some rain and widely shifting temps around NYC, I haven't noticed any condensation inside the lens. Cloudy today, but I'll get some pics up tomorrow with the sun shining.

I have only had them on for a week, so we'll see how they do in the long run. For now though, for $40, it's a no-brainer. Simple to install, and no error codes or warning lights. Truly plug 'n play. They look so much better than stock.

These? http://europeanautosource.com/bmw/3-...-3-series.html

Got any pics?

Also, when I try that link to the post about painting the backing plate, I get a 404 error.

I almost ordered these....

As promised, some pics from today. They are not dark black, but a nice clear smoke/black. Excellent fitment as well.

I was about to buy them today and realized that the listing has ended! Uggghhhh....any idea where else can I get the exact same ones with the amber light?

They still have the same ones with the white led lights available though. Not sure how that will look. Eventually down the line I am going to have my headlights converted to remove the amber turn signals and have white one's installed. Do you guys think I should get the white or amber led turn signal side markers?

I always just ran the stock housing with our upgraded led bulb upgrade in white. For anyone that wanted the smoked out look I just recommended picking up a can of VHT Niteshades. That is the best way to get OEM fitment with a smoked looked IMO but I've yet to test all the aftermarket options available. My biggest concern and through most research has lead to me the conclusion that a lot (not all) aftermarket options tend to have poor fitment and or gaps. I prefer staying with as much as OEM as possible. Our side marker bulb upgrade is offered with an amber option also.
