Mine is an auto, and even with the PE I get some crackles and pops after hard acceleration, which I love but it deff sounds more frequent with the PPK (from the vids I've seen). I thought DS mode was only more aggressive shifting - does it do anything to the engine?

If I can casually drive around without it popping all the time, I would be pretty happy.

Tried DS today, doesn't seem to do it that much for me, only in manual mode. So you should be fine

Ppk can be flashed for free if you have the equipment. Or a cheap price if someone else does it

I find this thread kind of funny. My wifes 335i has the PPK from the factory and while I noticed the pops and such, I never realized that was part of the PPK.

To those worried about the noise, I wouldn't worry. My wife drives the car with our twins in it and has said she wants an exhaust system on it.. She likes the sound of my M5 and wants something for hers (what a great wife! She made me put exhaust on her motorcycle too!)

Neat to know this is a worthy mod for the regular 335i, glad it came on the wifes.

I was going to go with the V2 (with the upgraded fan and cooling) since I don't have the equipment to do it myself. Or the Dinan S2...decisions, decisions.

I got my PPK done for the price of a nice steak dinner. All you need is a laptop and a charger. Ask your friends if you don't have these things. Jeff@topgearsolutions mailed me a cable and a CD with the programs, took about an hour to finish with some connections errors on my interwebs. Wound up using my iphone as a hotspot since my wifi didn't want to reach 20 feet outside onto my driveway. This is the best sub $100 mod you can do. Guaranteed.

I couldnt tell you, not sure of the exact specs. I work at a Dealer and used an old midtronics battery maintainer, not really a charger. But any trickle charger should be enough.

Ohk, Ive got a CTEK 5 amp, but Joe at top gear suggested a larger size.

If you are on Facebook look up a guy named Bimmer Guy, he is local to me but does the coding and flashing remotely. He did the Alpina flash and the PPK on my car, real nice guy with a great reputation locally.
