@mark458 Must be user error if you have a N54 it will be the same thing. if the pin to lock the flywheel doesn't fit you must not be a Top death center. once on TDC make sure the rear camshafts are the same as the picture check with a mirror. Last edited by Supra2k6; 12-01-2018 at 12:21 PM.. |

You don't understand. The pin is what 3 inches long? Well I cant get more then 1/8th of an inch in without forcing it! Its not even clearing the block! And if I get the exhaust cam at 12 then the intake cam is at 1.

The car has jumped time or the vanos has failed. Im removing the cams and seeing if I need to replace the chain or the vanos and most likely the cam cradles too. Can I just remove the cams and worry about the crappy crank pin later? Im probably going to have to sand it down to make it fit.

After you have the pin make your own markings and take pics then reuse the tool to time the engine you shouldn't be far off. after installing everything rotate clockwise by hand to make sure nothing hits. Again take my advice as advice idk your codes or reason to take the engine apart. |

It is hard to say for sure what's causing it in your particular case. But if your camshafts still have metal compression rings that eat into bearing ledges, it seems quite possible.
