Looking for ways to tidy up the engine bay, let's see those clean bays!

Let's see what you're starting with. Maybe that'll give us some idea what you need to deal with. Since this photo was taken I have repainted the vacuum canister bracket with chrome paint. It turned out pretty good IMO. Next I have to tackle that crusty looking OFH. I'll probably do that when I install the new FMIC and CP.

I think these cars look better with the original cowl and cabin air filter housings in place as well as the engine cover. I know it takes a few minutes longer to get to the engine to work on it when you need to but it is only a couple of minutes. It's time I'm willing to spend to keep the engine bay looking neat.

I don't care how the engine bay looks lol, I want my engine bay functional above all else and allowing all that heat to escape really helps out for higher mileage I think. Now the paint.. I've had 30+ hour detail sessions.

But for OP, you're done. Nothing else you can do lol. Maybe a carbon fiber engine cover

Looks clean but the high humidity there is corroding some parts on the car. My oil filter housing doesn't have those white spots on it. That is some type of corrosion I think. I'm not sure if it can be painted or coated to protect this further.

Yeah that's corrosion that happens to aluminum when it gets exposed to salt. I live in Nova Scotia where it is impossible to get more than about 40 miles away from the ocean and the salt air. D.O.T. also uses A LOT of salt on the roads for de-icing so vehicles are constantly attacked by salt, even in the summer, although it's not nearly as bad in the summer. It will clean up fairly easily though so I'm not terribly concerned about it. It's just ugly is all. Once I get it cleaned up I think I'm going to try some ceramic coating on it. Maybe that will help keep it looking better. I don't want to paint it, nothing looks worse than aluminum with paint flaking off of it.

My OFH was disgusting with the white powder corrosion, can't stand it. Best remedy for that is a dremel with abrasive pad disks and brass brushes.

Looks good! Did you do anything to try to keep it looking like that?

Thx. On more inaccessible parts I've been using Rust Prevention Magic, but that darkens them a bit. On the OFH I'm going to use one of these corrosion inhibitors wiped on and include that in the detailing regimen now and again.

At least when I ordered the Rein flange, it only came separate and not with the hose attached. Wish I'd known about this part number.

Well shoot. That's like 8 more bucks than the flange itself and you get a whole new hose to boot. Wish I saw that!

I don't have any engine bay pics of my 330i on account of it's all apart still, but this is my 325i and 6.0L Powerstroke.
