Flowers of course,

then jewelry then a nice wine and dine. Get a hotel and bam!

Oh shes 21, so of course bring her to every bar or a place that cards so she has the satisfaction of being let in anywhere she wants. make her feel beautiful and she will make you feel...

Last birthday gift(s) were an Ipad, 2 years ago, and some handbag, last year.

You can never go wrong with bags and shoes. If she doesn't want any of those, she must not be a girl. lol

What is she into? Hobbies? Do you have a budget in mind?

The flowers and chocolate shit is not going to cut it if you have been together that long. Take her out to a nice dinner and if you're really stuck on what to get her, just take her to one of her favorite shops and let her pick out something that she wants.

thanks its nice to get a girls pov on this. I have gotten her an ipad, an iphone, a wallet, a handbag, shoes, clothes, watch, jewelry, and almost anything else you can think of. Chocolate and flowers are extra on the side so those dont really count as presents. I will probably end up taking her to a store and have her pick something out. Its just different when she has something to unwrap on her special day.

How can you buy your gf shoes and clothes? My wife often can't even pick for herself.

We went to jewelry store few days ago and I asked her to pick something she likes, she said she doesn't like anything......

I've had that situation before lol. I didn't propose fast enough and that relationship ended, but I'm glad it did because i think it would have ended in divorce anyway. We changed alot after high school.

You can't go wrong with Coach purse. Take her to the Coach store and let her pick a bag she'd love to have.

Dont fall into that trap, if you get her something nice this year, next year, you have to top it and it goes on and on. Establish the low standard right now, so she would not be disappointed later

Rent a nice room in a hotel, go get a couples massage, buy her a gift basket with various types of alcohol in it. Buy her a promise ring/engagement ring. All depends on what she likes as well... if shes a girly girl, buy her some shoes. If she is a tom boy buy her tickets to a guy (NICE BOX SEATS) lol.
Ideas go on.

She already has a promise ring and I have the engagement ring, but waiting for a better time to propose and I don't think doing that on her birthday is appropriate either way.

I ended up having her surprise party at my house over the weekend. I bought her a black and white diamond necklace that she got on Saturday . On her actual birthday which was on Monday was the first day of college, so the party wasn't happening on that day. Instead we went out shopping for her, and had a nice dinner. Everything went better than planned. Thanks for all the advice.

NOW... On February 13, is our 7 year anniversary. I was going to propose on that day but a few things got a little delayed so its going to have to wait a bit. I was thinking of just getting her roses and another night out together. Let me know.

I say the sooner the better, its been 7YEARS... lol and if you need to wait a little longer make sure you tell her how special she is to you, and great idea with the necklace very nice =] this time you could just get her some flowers, maybe go to the beach, have a picnic, have her do a scavenger hunt for the ring (when you propose) lol write her a note thats says you love her... simple things to keep her on her toes

Hey thanks Nikki hadn't thought of a scavenger hunt. I was thinking of ways to do it. Family issues from her side is what is causing the delay. Her grandfather is very sick and in the hospital and so I kinda have to wait. Hopefully by summer everything should be better and the wait will be over. What are some other interesting ideas for proposing if you have any? I was thinking maybe a helicopter ride, or even block off my street since its a dead end with a bunch of people wearing shirts that say "will you marry me?". I looked into getting the airplanes to write it in the sky but that is a little out of my price range, but the airplane banners seem to be fairly priced, it although I don't know how visible it would be in Los Angeles.

As for the helicopter ride might be romantic, I wouldnt do it just because the noise would be a little hard to hear what you had said, and you don't want to be like will you marry me, and her have to say what. It would just ruin the moment.
As for the airplane and banner, youd have to make sure she was outside in the right moment, and she might be able to guess whats happening... something to consider.
Maybe look into like a billboard and go for a drive...
Take her to where you first met, and propose there.
you can always google it though.. lol
