Didn't Mr. 5 come out and say NOT to do that fix? I thought he found adverse effects after having done it. I, admittedly, did not and do not follow that thread religously, but, I swear I remember that happening.

well E89X-08-09-520: 08 is 2008 and 09 is MONTH (september) that means that your car is made 2008 09 30, my numbers are E89X-08-03-520, so my car is made 2008 03 and my dealer sais that i have E89X version i think my dealer dont know what i am talking about

p.s do u have bars on the screen silver, ore bronze?

I got my car updated with the ISTA software. Nothing new to add here. It's finally awesome. The car pulls like it should. I can't believe I drove 6 months without it. One poster did say that shifting from 1st is smoother, I have to agree. Not sure why this would be the case, but it certain is noticeable. Also, the car really didn't need to adapt really. I immediately noticed.

I also got my ISTA/P2.32.1 yesterday. Turbo retrofit was not requested since SA/SM did not have proper roundtable information prior. As such, it is unsure as to whether a "lag fix" or "gate fix" was applied...or if that is even the case. Unfortunately, I did not check in iDrive to see what the version number was before, but I have 05/2007 build date with no *known* updates--was at least v28.x before. Things to note:

1. Exhaust notes sound much cleaner, but the thing still sounds like a beast.
2. Throttle response is more linear, especially through lower gears.
3. No "pop pop pop" sound when downshifting from higher rpms > ~3200 or so.
4. Whole car seems more snappy; probably a product of going from very old software to new.
5. No perceptible lag either before or after.

sounds very nice...I am really glad for the reported successes!

What should I be asking my SA to verify correct fix?

I found about this issue for the first time in the Feb Roundel. I set up an appointment with my SA and will be getting the update per the November roundtable. My impression from comments by meyergru and others is that the roundtable instructions are hazy and non-specific in explicitly providing configuration instructions based on build dates, default configs, etc.

I have an early Feb 2008 build date. Based on this build date, what should I be explicitly be verifying was done? ISTA P 2.32.1? with turbo retrofit? without turbo retrofit?

I'd appreciate any help in clearing this up.

Thanks all for the persistence in getting a response from BMW NA on this lag issue. I just want to make sure I'm getting the correct service "out in the field".

Page 79 table has been updated once again.

I definitely see patterns in there... it's not fool proof, but the FSV seems to be a good rule of thumb to keep our data in check.

Still no v32.1 here in DC...

Has your progman ever been updated? If it hasn't been updated to any of the post 29.2 laggy versions than you don't even need to go in for the 32.1

So I have a 6/08 build 335i sedan.
Definitely feels laggy to me, altho I have not driven / experienced a "non-lag" car.

Based on the preceding posts, it seems BMW says these cars are not affected. Anyone else have similar experiences? Sounds like I won't be getting any updates...

So I am 3 days in with 32.1 and I guess now I do not know what to think. First and foremost, my damned "replace brake pads" service warning came on AGAIN after less than 30 hours with the car. My SA is getting tired of me already...

I am 99% positive that I did *not* get the "turbo-retrofit" DME software post 32.1 upgrade, but my SA said to drive the car for a bit and see how it goes. In addition, my brother and I took the car out last night and did some video footage <2000RPM 2nd gear runs and 1st gear runs. While in the car the lag is not as noticeable, comparison of my tach with those on YouTube filming their own lag is pretty consistent.

If I were to post some of these, could those who have 29.2 or 31.2 (no-lag) see if I am going crazy or if I have been bitten by the lag once more?

Well I've had my car for about a week with 32.2. Initital impressions were not good, hardly felt a difference at all from 31.1. A week of driving and I am still unsure. Somedays the car feels strong, other days not so much. I've tried standing starts and pulls in 4th from 2000 rpm with mixed results. One thing for sure is the exhaust seems to be back to it's orignal sound and I can hear the turbos spooling now but I would not call the car a beast as some members do.

Ugh...do you know for sure that you had the lag-fix DME applied? I am absolutely in your boat here. There are not many of us yet so we should do our diligence in hopes of not extending this thread to 200+...

Mine is built september 30 last year. Sometimes I sense it is laggy. One second maybe one and ahalf giving much throttle from 1500 in higher gears 4,5,6 going in DS mode before she take off.. Response in second gear feels much quicker. Maybe no hesitation. I have Steptronic. Driving in D give a soon downshift therefore disguise any lag as it revs up in lower gear.
Sometimes da car responds extremely quickly at just little gas throwing itself forward at an agility I think must be the original intent. Sometimes, most of the time it doesnīt. Sometimes my wife drive da car in a slow pace This I think reset the adaption of driver. When I drive I go triggerhappy style And as we put more miles on it she (335) must loosen up. Furthermore I fill the highest octan gas we have Shell V-power 99 octan. She feel more agressive whit that diet than the 98 octan she is specified to have.
