Engine malfunction after MHD flash
SOLVED! I just flashed my 07 335i with MHD Stage 2. As soon as the flash finished i waited the 30 seconds and turned off the ignition. I started the car and right away it started revving up and I got an engine malfunction.
Codes reading are 29F1 - DME; Fuel Pressure, plausibility 2FA3 - DME; No Coding I heard 29F1 can be high pressure fuel pump, luckily I have a recall still open for that. Would the flash cause the high pressure fuel pump to fail right away? What should I do? If it helps I have cold start noise reduction turned on (scared me at first lol) Last edited by lukemcmullen45; 06-03-2020 at 09:44 PM.. |

I noticed my car starting weird with cold start reduction on. Try turning it off then flash it and see if it happens again.

So I just reflashed stage 2 with the cold start noise reduction turned OFF. It still acted as if it was on, and I got the 29F1 code once again. I’m going to flash back to stock and see if it comes back.

I've seen a couple people have issues with cold start noise reduction. Makes me wary about doing so. Report back please!

Problem solved! It was NOT the cold start noise reduction. I was being stupid and at the end of the flash, I waited 30 seconds and then turned off the ignition, and then starting, instead of turning off the ignition and THEN waiting 30 seconds. Whoops...

The no coding issue can be fixed by clearing codes typically. |

Apparently cold start noise reduction isn't supposed to make any difference to the running of the car, but mine runs better with it on, so I left it on. Also increased idle rpm to 700rpm and it seems to idle smoother too.

Did you by any chance try the cold start shut off? Because my car didnt accept it... it kept shutting my car off and throwing engine malfunction. So that might be the case

I ended up leaving it off just to be safe. I have Downpipes and a muffler delete so it’s pretty loud on a cold start but my neighbors will live
