Did the PE mod and my car sounds the same..

Hey everyone,

Wanted to get some feedback from anyone who’s done the PE mod on their car. Just got it done this morning, I drive a 09’ E90 335XI. Got a local shop to do it, they’ve done a ton of them. Picked up my car to find it sounds the exact same as before. My 335 is pretty stock, exhaust is stock everything still in place except the muffler now with the PE mod. I have downpipes on the way. But is my car supposed to sound the same? Did my research and everyone here seems to really enjoy the PE mod. Just really disappointed that it didn’t sound like anything even at higher rpms.

Thanks

clearly been done wrong or your exhaust is still just too quiet to hear inside the car.

was it done to both sides and all four chambers in the mufflers?

as someone who has done this mod, my advice to anyone doing it, do every other exhaust mod first and then decide if you want to do it

Yeah it was done to both sides, all chambers. The only thing I can think of, I don’t have the X pipe and It’s got that resonator + primary and secondary cats. They asked if I wanted to do the x pipe as well but I didn’t think I needed to do it. Yeah forsure, I’m hoping with the downpipes it’ll sound better.

Doing all 4 pipes basically makes an over complicated straight pipe which should be quite noticeable. I did the 2 straight through pipes on mine and at idle and cruise it was quite but under WOT it was definitely louder.

I only gutted my driver's side muffler and wired the exhaust flap to a switch on my dash. I noticed a substantial difference in volume with just the one side opened up. Something doesn't seem right to me if you can't tell a difference.

Did you witness the job being done? Did they take pics of the opened muffler? Are there weld marks on the bottom side of the mufflers?
