verified boost leak on aftermarket chargepipe now what?

07 bmw 335i n54 motor.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...Jv?usp=sharing

I'm going to cut to the chase, i know i have a boost leak from the aftermarket charge pipe to the throttle body. I have a boost leak test i whipped up from another user that pressurizes the hot end of the intercooler with it hanging from a wire. the leak is clearly felt and heard from the aftermarket charge pipe to the throttle body. i tried disconnecting the charge pipe, checking the o-ring, adding some synthetic grease lube for o-rings and re-adjusting the charge pipe. it clicks in place and its tough to get in seems in there tight but it is about a finger nail at an angle open (crooked) the leak is coming from this very small angle side and from the slit hole where the clip clicks into place.

I'm either going to buy a new o-ring (which might be the reason) or add a single wrap of duct tape to the outer part of the throttle body to add a tiny amount of girth around the throttle body. or buy another charge pipe.

any tech helpers that have actually performed a boost leak test.. what do you think i should do?

I would try a new o-ring first and if that doesn't help I would return the charge pipe and get a new one. You shouldn't have to modify it using tapes and such to get it in place.

Oring. Like you said use some silicone spray or something to lube it. Using the factory [old] Oring on a new chargepipe can have varied results.

Could've changed your oil and used the filter gasket. Good luck though.

And no offense but lately I've seen multiple threads from people saying they see no point in paying more for brand name chargepipe and you get a generic that has boost leaks. Again nothing personal against you just wanted to point that out.

I'm afraid that's the risk you take when you get generic or so called Chinese ones, fitment or quality issues.

DON'T EVER BUY A CHEAP CHARGE PIPE! IT'S TOO RISKY! IF YOU BOUGHT THIS PLATFORM YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T WANT RISK!!! YOUR #1 CONCERN IS RELIABILITY!!!

Oh, and please stop ruining my resale value with your cheapness!

Now that I got that out of my system...

OP, are you sure the charge pipe is fully engaged? It can be very stubborn. I just checked mine (which is also a cheap, Chinese, RISKY, resale value killing CP) and there's no angle or tilt. I'm very curious if a new o-ring fixes it or whether or not it just needed a little lube to help it fully seat. But seriously, if you would just stop being so cheap, we would all rest easy knowing you have a top notch CP on your ride

^ I mean I didn't have any fitment issues or boost leaks with my brand name VRSF chargepipe. Only cost a bit more for guaranteed quality. Let me know how your Chyna built car works out for you.

Poor quality and bad fitment issues are common with a lot of Chinese stuff, of course you might be fortunate, or you might not.

A charge pipe is not expensive, especially if you get ones which work with stock diverter valves.

But lets avoid the good reliable known ones and wonder why some dodgy Chinese one, we buy has boost leak. Its much more fun

Oh you guys have no sense of humor, do you? You can't see how ironic it is that you keep calling out a cheap aftermarket part while you choose to drive a notoriously unreliable car. My post was funny. Throw me a bone, why don't you? And also maybe laugh a little at your anti-cheap charge pipe obsession.

And please don't miss that you find what you're looking for. We don't even know if it's an o-ring issue as has been suggested, but you guys so badly want it to be a charge pipe issue because that satisfies your righteous crusade against them.

Buck up and get a real chargepipe. No wonder you have a boost leak.

Don't wrap tape around the throttle body either... just fix it right dude. All you are doing is asking for more issues.

I actually found it hilarious and ironic that this came up just a couple weeks after you were making a big fuss about saving a few bucks using them. Like do what you want with your car but theres a reason we suggest reputable brands lol everyone whos modded cars long enough has had this experience with cheap parts.
Youre the only reason i even asked and poked fun at it lol

Hopefully its just the oring but even then the way it mounts up doesnt look right.
I did say he could buy an oil filter and use the old oring in his chargepipe to save a few bucks and get it done immediately instead of waiting.

FYI, oil filter gasket and charge pipe gasket are NOT the same thing. They're close, but no cigar.
