Just replace the CC pads with better pads. $300 bucks and your good to go. The OEM rotors are monsters and will be fine for daily driver use with some track time, you cant beat them. Slotted for full time track use.

The HP Plus were ready for action after the second braking on the warm up lap. For our HPDE sessions the HT10 are overkill and they are pointless on the street offering little to no braking when cold.

Ken, do you have different pads on the shelf or are you looking for new ones?
The OEM rotors are monsters. No need to change those out. Eat them up and go slotted if you need to.
If you have R4S on the shelf, give them a try for the track. I would suggest getting your disks turned to remove the previous brake substrate.
Ok, so now I have 3 different options

Yes, I have both a new set of CC pads + a new set of Porterfield R4S + a pair of vented RB front discs.

I was thinking along the lines of Tonybest (option 1), just finish the new set of CC pads on the OEM discs, then move to the R4S + upgraded discs after that. But I might just move to the R4S without changing the front discs and sell the CC pads and keep the upgraded front discs for next year (option 2 - Joel's suggestion ). Or option 3, which is Option 2 + front rotor upgrade.

So now, I am now leaning to 1 or 2, more 1.

Thanks

So Ken is unhappy with current pads. Fact.
Ken has better pads in stock. Fact.
The E9X disks are decent enough. Fact.

I say switch to the better pads - use the R4S. Instant results.
Eat up your current disks and switch to new ones when done.
Win win.

Sure thing. I'll drop you a note ahead of time. It's pretty easy.

Note to self.

Do not use front jack point to change both front and rear wheel.
It works, but it's too scary.

lol... it doesnt work for me either. i have to raise the front pretty high up to get the rears in the air... i'd rather just move the jack the 2 extra times.

Chris, I raise mine from the rear jack point, not the front. But perhaps you can only do this with a sedan!

What Tony was saying is that he did get to raise both wheels lifting from the front jack point, but the car was not stable. If that is the case, you could use either a jack stand to place under the rear jack point or rear subframe if the car is high enough off the ground, or put a wheel lying flat below the rear jack point if not high enough, but that depends on your preference. Or go the long route, which is not so long anyways.

I did a test today on the E92. Using the jack point at the front will raise both ends quicker than if you start at the rear.

I have to change my pads back to stock. I cant take the noise any more. Antoine, I will do them this Saturday morning if you are interested. Unless it rains again.

Thanks, but I will be in Mosport this weekend with Trillium. I've found a few DiYs on here. Anyways, it won't be the last time you will be switching your pads anyways.

Chris & I are ready for Mosport tomorrow. Weather should be great.
BTW Chris, I'm at exit 431 and it's 30 minutes away from the track so don't be late.

And my car has now 40,000 kms

1st day at Mosport. I really love this track. We are so fortunate to have this amount of quality tracks so close. Mosport, Mont-Tremblant, Calabogie... and a little farther... Watkins Glen.

1st and 2nd session under pouring rain. 3rd and 4th on the bone dry.
not only do I have to learn the proper line, but I had to learn 3 other lines based on the conditions. So much data in my brain right now. Exhausted.

This track is so very hilly. And so fast. It isn't hard on the brakes.

Tomorrow is another day. I can't wait.

Mosport is set in a very beautiful area.

What a pain today. How quick we forget things. I needed a 7mm allen key. I had 8 different sets and not one had 7mm. Couldn't recall what I used last year. Out to Canadian tire. Oddly, they dont sell any kits with 7mm. What's up with that? I ended buying a set of hex nut drivers to fit my 3/8" ratchet. I was a little rusty. 2 hours later all done. Textar's back on. Ahhhh. No noise.

Are you using your HT10s?

Not yet. I have them with me but I still have practically new OEMs on.

1st session of day 2 done. I will improve.

On another note. My Mastercrap 1.5 ton jack is broken. Hopefully, Canadian Tire will honour their warranty even though I don't have the box nor the receipt.

How are the OEM brakes holding up on the track? Moderate fade or very little issue?

I haven't ever worn out or broke a tool yet, but given the boat load I've bought since this tracking sickness, I always wondered about the Mastercraft warranty. Let us know how that works out.

agreed. i think tremblant is much harder on the brakes than mosport.

its all about carrying as much speed through the corners as you can at mosport.

That seems to be a pretty fast track. The camera sounds and looks great. Where was it positioned? Front right bumper?

I will go back for sure next year.

BTW went to Crappy Tire... oops Canadian Tire and they replaced my jack for another one. No receipt. All is good.

Still worried for the future since it broke due to poor quality of steel. It will happen again, no doubt.

Wow, does seem like a very fast track, only seem to have a couple of harder brake points. I don't know if my nerve could take it

You also mention very hilly track, that's the problem with cameras, you don't get to see the grade up or down that well.

Cheers!
