HELP - different ride height???

Hey guys,

So my dad installed the rear shockers on my car (e92 LCI) the other week while I was away. only for me to find out it they weren’t installed properly . I noticed when the rear left side was considerably lower than the right. I could just about fit 1 finger between arch and tyre, supposed to the right side where I can fit 2.

Cut a long story short, thinking the reason why it was sat so low was due to the shocker, I took out the rear shockers and reinstalled them myself properly.

Took her for a quick test drive and everything was sorted. However checking the rear left side again before I went indoors, I noticed it’s still sagging. What could be causing this?! I checked the springs and they seem to be alright? Shockers are brand new too

Any help would be deeply appreciated

Whatever else it is, it isn't the shocks. Shocks do not determine ride height, springs do.

My thoughts exactly!
Luckily I’ve ordered a set of eibach pros which should be arriving next week.
I’ll pop them on and hopefully see if it will eradicate the issue?
If not then I’m not too sure. I’ve heard rumours about BMW raising the driver side more to accommodate for weight etc. However speaking to a BMW mechanic he said it was merely a myth lol.

Just an update: I’ve installed the set of eibach springs, and to be honest the car seems even higher now?! The gap has increased to 3 fingers on the right and 2 on the left? I’m baffled

Have you renewed the spring seats? Could they be worn unevenly side to side?

This is a shocker indeed...
But seriously, like others say, ride height is determined by springs and spring seats AND proper installation of those - they all have to be aligned just the right way.

I haven’t sadly. Upon inspection they seemed in good nick. When I’m back from my trip I might change them now that you’ve suggested that.

Of course. Alignment was done properly, however I didn’t change the seats. I think to give this a try and see what happens. But for both the left hand side seats to go is too convenient, no?

I guess I was trying to say that spring seats are shape-molded, so if that shape isn't aligned with spring end coil, then the overall length of assembly would increase. And affect the ride height.

Ahhh I see what you mean - Having double checked again last night, i am able to confirm all 4 sides are properly seated.
