JBL MS-8 still the best or something new out there now?

Is there a rival to the JBL MS8 as yet? Something with a built in power amp like the MS8... not talking JL clean sweep or anything like that which requires an external amp to work with it...

Thanks

ms-8 has harldy any built in power

The two new Helix amp/processors are the new thing.

PP82dsp 55 watts rms x 8 channels plus dsl

and dsp 6 120 watts per channle x 6 plus to extra dsp channels

There are big threads on both now.

mosconi also makes the 120.4 dsp amp.
4 channels 120 watt ab power + dsp.

Helix is made in Germany
Mosconi Italy

Pretty much everything is better than the MS-8...

The Helix and Mosconi mentioned above.

Audison has some great Amp/dsp combos.

The only thing the MS-8 kind of has going for it is the ease of install/tuning for some. If you dont want to fiddle around with tuning your system and are OK with average sound, then the MS-8 is fine. If you actually want something that sounds good and allows you to do what you want with the system, the MS-8 sucks.

You are better off with a separate amp and processor. The ms8 is so underpowered you will hear nothing but distortion without an amp. I wouldn't recommend the ms8 at all from my experience with it, but there are others that will say otherwise.

See all above, I don't remember the MS8 ever being the best
