Bad Battery?
2007 E90 335i
The battery is just over a year old. All of a sudden, after letting the car sit for a weekend, Monday morning I try to get in the car and it had no power. Couldn't unlock the doors. I jumped it and it turned on. After work, battery dead again. Jumped it again. Went for an extended drive in the evening and the car started fine the next morning. Tuesday after work, car wouldn't start again. I jumped it and drove home. I randomly checked up on it after it sat parked 5 hours and I heard a noise from the glove compartment: http://s45.photobucket.com/user/Tbmv...B5EA4.mp4.html Bad battery for sure? |

I called BMW and there are no recalls for my specific VIN.
That sound wasn't present when I turned the car off. I only noticed it after I came back later on. But a faulty battery would cause some electrical components to act up. So that sound could be due to a weak battery, I would think. |

So I hear this sound when the car is off. It is periodic (every 30-40 secs) and it sounds like it's coming from under the rear if the car. Is this normal? See the video I took below:

BUMP
So I found out that my Low Pressure Fuel Pump primes every 13 seconds when the car is off eventually draining the battery. Anyone have this happen or know what the issue might be? I can hear it...here's a video of the sound: |

Code Read and you might try a reboot.

Disconnect the battery to reboot the car. (As in the cars software) |

I've narrowed it down some more, I think.
The car does not enter into "Sleep Mode." I have comfort access. After locking the car, the Start/Stop pushbutton LED and shift lever LED stay on (they're supposed to turn off after 5 minutes.) The sound at the rear of the car is the LPFP (fuel pump) priming every 13 seconds. Question: What all prevents the car from going into sleep mode? |

So after trouble-shooting on and off for the last few days...
The car was prevented from going into sleep mode. Every time it tried to go into sleep mode (start/stop bushbutton LED would go off, then on again and the LPFP would prime.) I started pulling out fuses to see if anything was preventing the car from going to sleep. I got to fuse #31 and the car finally went to sleep. Seems like fuse #31 on my car is for the CD player (BMW Professional, no iDrive.) Now I can drive the car w/o fear of draining the battery, but I will have to start looking into what the issue with the CD player is. I've heard that the CD player doesn't always go to sleep and that you have to push the START/STOP button twice when exiting car etc. I always either lock it via the key fob or door handle. I'll have to look at a wiring diagram for the radio. |
