2011 335D w/nav, no BT, no Y cable functions

New to me 2011 335D with Nav. Bluetooth does phone only. No streaming music. I bought an OEM MBW Y cable and it does not work either.

The accessories software has never been updated, so I downloaded an updated file onto a USB drive and that does not do anything either. I need a BMW adapter cable or USB adapter?

Any other ideas? Here's my VIN info

Do you have two USB Ports?
Does USB show up as a selection on your Idrive.
If you have two ports it was my understanding the
one in Glove Box only is for downloading to the hard
drive.
The one in the between seats console is used to play
music.

Yes, it has two. Even using the one in the glove, there is no initiation on the software. I used the one in the glove to update the maps (Thanks Dracon!), so I know it works. No idea how to update the iDrive/stereo system.

I think that updates to the whole system need to be done through a coding setup
but if you want the ultimate update check out the NBT upgrade
