I don't have a WG rattle problem but it would be nice to have the settings correctly set for best performance
Any advice??
I set mine to menu 10 = 76 and menu 12 = max after JB4-335 suggested to, and it feels great and works well so far.

From what I understand, it's multiplied by 2x so
3500rpm = 70%
4000rpm = 80%

So to set it at 76%, set at around 3800rpm.

My rattle was on light acceleration, so I think it was maxing the menu 12 setting that fixed mine.

In menu 12, I think if you set it below 2500rpm or higher than 4000rpm, it will reset to default value as soon as you leave the JB4 command mode.

I set it to 4000rpm, and I haven't had any surging problems, but I have an steptronic automatic.

I do notice that it seems to exhaust gurgle more when letting off though, but not sure if it is a direct result of this setting.

On the topic how will the car behave with throttle oscillations? I assume it will surge is that right? and abrupt boost tip in? I assume it will feel like an old turbo kick is that right??
Any danger to the engine if the settings are not quite right?
"Old turbo kick" I am assuming you mean like old school turbo lag? In that case no.

From what I understand "surge" is when you are in low gear (1st) and travelling at low speed (say a carpark) and then any slight change in throttle position closes the wastegate too abruptly causing an unintentional boost spike at low speed... I may be wrong though.

As far as I know there shouldn't be any adverse effects to the engine, as the DME should control the throttle plate and diverter valves should release unwanted pressure if it boosts unintentionally - it just won't feel very smooth to drive.

I have read some people having rattles with RB's as well - but I thought they had an improved WG design??

Menu 10 relates to DWP during idle or very slight throttle.

Menu 12 is the BDC when you are under a little more load/tip in.

Go to low with Menu 10 and you'll experience lag. Go to high with Menu 12 and the car will surge.
Got no rattle JB, just not sure what setting on menus 10 and 12 I should have set up as default, I think Krabs already answered this but

Seems to rattle everywhere, low throttle acceleration gives rattle (possibly also rattles during hard/WOT but then engine/exhuast noise covers everything up), revving in netural/park will result in rattle when the revs drop down.

The only thing I noticed playing with menu 10 & 12 on JB4 is that when I had menu 12 set really low the exhaust was much louder at idle which made it sound like I had a full aftermarket turbo back exhuast.

At the moment I had mine set at Menu 10 = 4k, and menu 12 = 2.7k and just learnt to live with the rattling.

My old Skyline also developed a rattle due to a broken exhuast clip somewhere, perharps I'm destined to drive around in rattling cars...

no, surge is when you abruptly take your foot off the throttle and it close the throttle body but the turbo was still in process of sucking in air.. and it starts chopping the incoming air.. and it sounds like multiple lasers fired lol

So here is my summary on the JB4 menus 10, 11 and 12
Please post a correction where the information is not accurate
Hope this helps someone

Menu 10
Purpose: Changes waste gate adjustment position
Effects: Rattle and throttle response
High settings Improve throttle response but may cause waste gate rattle
Low settings May cause boost oscillations (surging)
Min setting: 0% or 0 on tacho
Max setting 100% or 5000 on tacho
Default setting 80% or 4000 on tacho
Use: Increase as high as you can without rattle on deceleration

Menu 11
Purpose: Adjusts fuel open loop
Effects: Changes fuel trim settings – auto adjusting
High settings Auto adjusts
Low settings Auto adjusts
Min setting: 0% or 0 on tacho
Max setting 100% or 5000 on tacho
Default setting 80% or 4000 on tacho or 40% or 2000 with BE flash
Use: Use default settings unless getting 29F2 codes

Menu 12
Purpose: Changes low part waste gate position
Effects: Rattle on light acceleration
High settings Improves throttle response, over boost
Low settings Increase lag on acceleration, under boost
Min setting: 25% or 2500 on tacho (below 2500 will reset to default)
Max setting 40% or 4000 on tacho (above 4000 will reset to default)
Default setting 32% or 3200 on tacho
Use: Increase or decrease to balance throttle response and light acceleration rattle

Menu 10 & 12 are used to control waste gate settings to reduce waste gate rattle
Most people use default settings unless experiencing waste gate rattle
Key is to find a balance between the settings on menus 10 and 12 that provide the smoothest driving experience for the best reduction in rattle. Each car will be different
Map 10 settings have the greatest impact on rattle and should be adjusted first
Map 12 can be used to further adjust rattle, some cars require max setting and some cars require min setting to reduce rattle. Min settings will reduce throttle response, Max settings may cause over boost
