HiFi system upgrade
Want to upgrade my sound system and there are 2 options that I wanna go with but can't pick one. Should I go for bimmer tech alpha or bavsound? What do you have guys?

I think they both use relabeled Audiotec/Fisher Helix DSP/AMPs
In the case of bimmertech its the Helix 86dsp and in the case of bavsound its the Helix BMW7. 86dsp has one more channel which means you could go active on the front doors. BMW7 has more power especially for the under seats. I think they both give you a tune and some sort of mounting hardware. To get more out of it you will need new speakers or the Front doors and floors. The biggest problem I have with bavsound is they don't list the power rating on there speaker or at least this use to be true. You might want to get quote from Unexpected Creations for the same stuff. https://unexpectedcreations.com/mobile-audio/ talk to Don. (aka 6spdcoupe) https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...ifiers/up-7bmw https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...fiers/pp-86dsp The helix match speaker set for the fronts is a more reasonably priced set for the fronts. Than offered by bavsound or bimmertech I believe. Last edited by ctuna; 03-23-2019 at 11:28 PM.. |

Just make sure the set comes with the special cross over & harness for the front door speakers. As far as a better amp, the helix is a great option. A little pricey but for plug & play it's hard to beat. |

Don't go to some hack shop that will push there stuff on you
and don't know there way around a BMW. You would be better off on the track you were previously on. There have been some horror storys here of people that have done that. I would at least call Don and get his opinion. Also he might know somebody closer to you that is good . He is in Edison NJ. The plug and play packages generally don't come with a proper power connection to the amp/battery . Check on it. |
