Mapped today (Dervtech): e90 330D remap, EGR and DPF delete

I've had a quote from a reputable company (dervtech Manchester) to do the above and have been told it will make over 300.

Are there any pro's and cons's of stage 2 over stage 1?

I don't wan't any issues come MOT time or dashboard errors.

I've been told that in theory it would fail MOT but they've not come across it.

I'm in two minds. Thoughts?

Garage List
The DPF removal will result in an MOT fail unless you have a friendly MOT tester....

The MOT guidelines were changed last year to specifically include "DPF Tampering and Removal" and will instafail.... Something to think about.

The EGR valve however is not included in that and can be removed with no penalty.

As for dash errors etc... As long as the DPF and EGR are mapped out then you won't get errors as far as I'm aware.

make sure the egr is turned off properly,, most just dont have the software/skill to do it properly..bwchiptune developed a map with egr delete which makes it stay closed etc,,ill post a write up of his map/deletes.https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum...tware-t474769/..

You can make good power when you leave the dpf in place. You do need a decent tuner though, BWChiptune get good reviews on here. I'm sure they will be willing to advise you if you phone them.

Had mine done at BWchiptune. EGR mapped put and DPF left alone. Absolutely no need to remove it. Car now makes 317bhp and 673nm, and that was an all round map, so if I went for all out power I could've had more.
Jason is one of the best in the business, just Google BWchiptune and you'll see why. I travelled a long way to get to him but it was well worth it.

Man it's been so long since I've been on here! But man 317bhp with DPF is incredible, I myself try to encourage people to leave the DPF in tact after reading a message by BWChiptune back in 2017 but a lot of people are sheep and are just unaware of the impact a DPF truly has and it doesn't help with tuners craving the DPF deletion as part of a tune.. It's a shame really but I didn't know it could put that down with a DPF. Do you monitor regens and soot to get an idea how the dpf copes? And do you have M57 or N57?

Ahh that explains the extra horses then, so your pre lci gets 305 without DPF? I need to get mine on a dyno as I have no idea how much its putting down. Love the 335D as well absolute beast,, it's the spool from the twin turbo that I really like. My goal once insurance drops is to follow what a chap did on YouTube (bmw power) I think the channel name is, he got 457bhp out of his 330D pre LCI, a lot of work but I've enjoyed working on mine so it would be a good project. How's the 335d in respects of regens and soot (if you do monitor that is)

As rasa has said mine is the N57. I have no issues with regens. I have checked the levels a couple of times and all good.

Mapped today and got these figures.

Apparently there was already a tune file on the car - supposed to be 231 stock.

Feels much stronger and does pull more through every gear. I was expecting a little more, but i haven't driven it that much and didn't realise it was already tuned if this is true.

Gains seem strong either way?

ha ha ,,thats honestly what they all say,,the dyno stock runs are over reading,,you can knock 30 bhp offf your final figure,,durham remaps done my 330d had the exact same as yours 252 and said it had a map on it,,nope its because they are knob heads inflating there figures,,my 335d made 280 bhp stock on a proper dyno....

I simply dont understand why if BWChiptune will remap remotedly, you'd even consider going anywhere else. Pulling the DPF off a diesel is so 2009 FFS lol.

Definitely get honest figures at BWchiptune as my 330d was coming up short in stock trim. Think it managed 236bhp when it should've been 245bhp. Not bad though for a car that had nearly 80k on the clock though. The impressive thing was the stock torque was a fair bit higher than it should've been, although I can't remember what the figure was off the top of my head.
Can't believe the OP went against the advice and got the dpf removed. Hope he knows a friendly mot tester and also doesn't get pulled.
