330i M Sport 2006 - Start up issue Help Please

Hi Guys,

After narrowing down my slowly increasing little issue, for the last month my first cold start of the day has been slowly getting worse. Say the normal start goes like d d brooommm. Now it can be like d d d d d d brooomm like it is struggling to catch spark ?.

When it’s warm and running it seems fine and stable tick over ? And still goes like a train it’s just that initial start up .

Also when warm it seems to start ok ?

Shall I just put a new set of spark plugs in and see if that cures it ?, as don’t want to ideally but 6 coil packs and then it’s the same ?

Any help gratefully received

Thankyou

Had a similar issue. Check your ground strap, mine was deteriorating and needed to be replaced.

Might not be electrical at all.

For example, could be leaky injectors or fuel pump issues.

How many miles has the car done?

Mine is the opposite, starts quickly from cold but sometimes spits the dummy when warm.
But it is so intermittent at the moment I have not investigated at all!

No fault codes guys at all , car has done 130,000. But always had any work immediately done by previous owner, car is actually mint for age. Could it not be as simple as a new set of plugs ?

I wouldn't have thought so but you never know.

When were they last changed and what do you have fitted?

Not sure sorry what was fitted ?, but all I know is that just before I got the car it was serviced jan 2018. Oil , plugs , filters .

Could maybe be a coil pack on one of the plugs maybe ? But there’s 6 , and like i say when it’s warm it idles fine tbh, so I couldn’t even do process of elimination and go through eliminate that, I’d have to buy all 6. Which I did see on eBay a set from China for £70 but not sure of quality ?.

It’s just that initial first catch she sometimes struggles / takes a little longer to fire up ! Then it seems fine when warm ?
