Sport Seat Retrofit
I did a little searching on here but didn’t find (quickly) an answer.
My E91 came with regular leather seats. They are fully electric with memory and heat. I assume that sport seats are compatible with mine without any additional wiring ? There are lumber and side bolsters I assume and do they need any additional wiring. If that’s the case I wouldn’t bother but if it’s strictly a bolt in and plug in affair I may do it. For reference it’s an 09 so it would have to be LCI seats. |

Since you have heated power seats now, there is a better than average chance you will be fine. When you add heat, you get a 2nd power and ground run to each seat plus the wiring needed to turn on the pass side heat.

I swapped heated, electric (w/ memory), lumbar, non-sport seats for sport seats with the same exact options with no extra wiring needed. Everything works just fine. My car is an ‘09 E91, donor was an ‘11 E90.
Be aware that if the donor car was in an accident, you may need to swap the buckle/pre-tensioner assemblies from your old seats to the new ones or you’ll have an airbag light. The rubber boot under the buckle will be collapsed, or wrinkled, if that’s the case. |

Good stuff. I figure it should be pretty straight forward if I decide to go ahead and do it. I have a beige interior so would need to find suitable donors. And I am in Canada so there’s that.

I did this swap in a 2007 E91. I don't think there is a major change from Pre-LCI to LCI seats, but the headrests are different - I think in 2009 they started using "Active Head Rests." So as long as you stick to 2009-2012, and are swapping seats with the same options (power, heat, etc.), you should be in good shape.

I believe even E90s with manual seats optioned have the wiring routed to accommodate any of the other seat functions that could have been ordered from the factory. Anything OEM should work fine with no issue.
