Battery with a key warning light.
When i start my car i get a battery with a key warning light. Im guessing its to do with the battery in the remote as i have the model where it is plugged in and recharges it’s self. Will the car suddenly not start one day or can i keep driving it and ignore the light.

Yes it is telling you the remote battery is low.
It should charge when inserted in the dashboard as you drive along but.... Do you have comfort access? If you do then you don't need to put the key in the dashboard anyway and the battery will not recharge because it is not rechargeable! If you don't have comfort access (as you suggest) you either need to drive further so that the key can recharge fully or it could be saying that you need to replace the battery as it is not holding a charge. BMW will tell you that the non-CA key batteries are not replaceable but with minimal soldering skills you can do it yourself. There was a thread about this exact subject on here a few days ago. The car should still start with the key in the slot but obviously you will lose all of your remote functions. |

Yes that's what BMW always say
You can buy the batteries for a couple of pounds, carefully open the case, desolder the old battery and solder the new one in. I believe that there is someone on here offering to do the job for you for about £20 Try here https://www.themasterlocksmith.com/p...mw-key-repair/ |

If you have comfort access it is simple since the battery holder is designed for battery changes.
If you have the fob with the rechargeable battery, i.e. you need to put it into the dash slot to start the car it is more tricky as you need to open the case and source a suitable rechargeable battery which you will need to solder in but with patience it is not technically difficult. |
