I used the wiring diagrams that were shown, and honostly I was confused, but after doing the mod I felt like making this would help. So please edit the first post and put this picture on there too. Thanks.

I hope it helps, I know I would have wanted it when I was doing the install.

Excuses, yeah the only hard part is running the f***king power wire, to the sidemarker lens, and the passenger side is harder then the drivers side, because the small amount of space you do have, the windshield wiper fluid hose is there!!

Awesome diagram, thanks Mattscott!
Instead of cutting the #12 wire, can you simply remove it from the plug and plug the new power wire in? My car is leased and I doubt BMW would be happy with me cutting wires. Also, does this work with the standard signal bulbs or does it have to be LEDs? Thanks, Michael

look on the harness. it is numbered 1-12 and you use those wires with the corresponding numbers.

just finished the mod, looks great... only thing i want to add. when running the power wire to the pass side marker i didnt understand what you did with the wire in the wheel well? just left it? anyways i decided to play arround there and if you take 2 screws directly top center of the wheel well off you can ger your hand into the engine bay. this is useless until combined with the next step. use a wire hanger (straightened out and stick it through the side marker toward the engine bay. with enough wiggling and a little luck it should come out right where you removed the screws. now from the wheel well tie the wire from the engine bay opening you just made to the hanger tightly and bull the hanger back through the side marker hole and... poof you have a wire from the engine bay right near the harness that goes directly to the sidemarker traveling through the wheel well here r the pics

Yeah yeah.. I'm resurrecting a thread, but its a thread worth resurrecting.
So I've been wanting to do this mod ever since Chesmu originally did it, and now its time. Before I do it I just thought I'd make sure the mod is still holding up (Calvino's glue) and if any errors or problems have occured because of it. I'm really looking forward to doing this mod- I love stuff like this!

Yeah I've checked it out, but Chesmu's way seems a bit safer in the sense that I can cover up my 'work' if need be. I'm not really a fan of DRLs.. and TN cops aren't really known for giving out tickets for lighting mods. It definitely looks like a cool mod, but I think I'd rather just take the amber out and leave everything else the way it normally is.
Since you're here.. do you have any more pictures of **********s silver cf overlays? I think I've seen all the ones you/marc posted, but they were all pretty close up. Obviously marc's cf is the best but is the overlay still kind of classy looking? Thanks!

AEO version without LED turnsignal?
Great post, a potential lifesaver for me, who shipped my 328 to Switzerland, and am in need of alterinig front headlights to meet swiss standard - no amber 'parking lights'.
Question, is the LED turnsignal required because you are feeding from sidemarker, or just an added embelishment? Can I stick with the factory amber bulbs (PW21W)? I am looking for the most down and dirty way to move to AEO. Thanks for your help |

I'm pretty sure that I had mine working with the regular bulbs in, but I think I also had the resistors already wired in, too. If you just order the whole kit from jlevisw.com you get the correct resistors as well as the LED bulb. IMHO the LED is just a perk of doing this mod. No more egg yolk in the blinker!

I don't think you can use the regular bulb it uses to much power for the side maker, you can burn something. get the kit it comes with the resistors and the LED's
