Fuel filter location on 2009 323i?
Hi there I would like to confirm if someone can let me know the location of the fuel filter on the above car. I followed the video below but removing the cover in the video does not provide me with access to the fuel filter. I am based in Toronto so this would be the north American version the car which may explain why I cannot find it in the same location as the video perhaps? Your help is appreciated
Here is the video: |

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...filter/AoGBNM9 https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...?q=fuel+filter or realoem.com Look it up in the above . If it's like the ones in the 3 liter motors its in the gas tank where it cannot be easily reached. (or safely reached) That video looks like its an e36 filter. A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

It is under the rear passenger seat left side (looking forward towards the front of the card). The filter and fuel pressure regulator is one combined piece, and the left side fuel level gauge. (It is inside the fuel tank but has access to it under the seat)
Number 2 in below link: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=16_0601 Pump is on the right, with right side fuel level gauge. You will find DIY's on Pelican Parts website, or here. Opening the tightening ring calls for a special tool, but you can use a brass drift and hammer instead. Spraying little bit penetrating oil helps there, not too much. Start the job when the fuel level is low, will cause less mess. |

Here is the TIS procedure for YOUR 323i: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...lines/2SobKA5Z That TIS Procedure shows it located to the LEFT or Driver's side of the rear of the transmission (note the drive shaft ;-) Please let us know if that Procedure is NOT correct for your vehicle. All of the US 6-cyl cars have NO external, inline, fuel filter AFAIK. George |
