I have a e92 07 328xi
I went to the gas station and put in gas. When I parked I quickly put it in park and turned it off bc I was in a rush. I put in the gas and turned the car on. It turned on normal. Then when I put it into Drive and hit the gas it just revved up and didn't move. Then I put it into reverse to see if that worked and reverse worked fine so I put it back in D and it started moving but very sluggish then all of a sudden the transmission malfunction light came on. The car was going very sluggish. I rolled onto the street slowly and carefully and got into the left turning lane and stopped. When the light turned green I hit the gas again n the car wouldn't move. Just revved and stayed in place. I smashed the gas too and revved it up to 6000 rpm and still nothing. So I put it into park and back into drive then it moved. Sluggish as hell again. So I went into the nearest parking lot and turned the car off and back on. When I did that, the transmission malfunction light went off and the car ran perfectly fine.
So my question is wtf was that and what could it become in the future? Is my transmission about to fail or was that a one time thing?

How much did it cost you?
For me it was the transfer case but in case if something happens again I'm curious how much it cost you. My transfer case was $650 including labor.
