Pure Turbo DIY
Has anyone done an install of a pure Stage 2 turbo in their garage? I could not find a thread with pics or details of the install, but this is something I would want to do myself.

I think the stage 2 is a little too new but I am also very interested in getting a more detailed walkthrough.

I remember reading somewhere in the Pure Stage 2 thread that it's an identical install to Pure Stage 1. And I know that DIY exists. Hope someone can confirm this

The PURE Stage 2 install is different than the Stage 1 install.
None of them require removing the subframe. We have never had to remove the subframe on any of our installs. When installing the PURE Stage 2, we like to remove the passenger side motor mount. It allows plenty of access to remove the turbo and manifold. Total install time commonly takes 6 to 9 hours depending on the installer's experience level. |

Versus users fumbling through threads here, for often inaccurate and misleading / needless side tracking information, is it too much for end users to expect written instructions at the time of purchase? Not picking on Pure here, as I had a similar experience swapping out another component recently. People should know what fluids, gaskets, nuts and bolts and whatever else is needed for a proper install prior to starting such a task.

FYI: We did a 335xi PURE Stage 2 install today. It did require lowering the subframe. It was an extra 3 hours install time. So AWD owners, expect to pay a little more for install. Thanks

Bumping an old thread now that many more people are getting stage 2 turbos. How did your installs go? I'll be trying this myself. Any torque specs needed on manifold bolts or anywhere else? Anything else to note?

If I lived in CA I'd be able to go to a reputable shop for it to be done right. In central PA I'm more likely to do a better job myself than take it to one of these mom and pop shops that don't know what a wastegate is. Guys in the middle of no where like me could really use some basic information like torque specs and any special tools needed.

At the very least, get the Bentley manual for the 335i.

What good would that do? It only has up to 2010 cars so N54 only.
EDIT: Haven't looked in a while. Look like this just might have it. http://www.bentleypublishers.com//bm...ir-manual.html
