I haven't physically checked it (if there's a way to distinguish easily), but realoem.com is showing my car as having the DME that doesn't require the bench flash.

What version of the MHD app, and what device are you running it on? Are you able to use the MHD app to read codes?

Have you tried connecting to the DME using INPA or ISTA-D/Rheingold running on a laptop?

Do you have a JB4 installed?

Based on your post in the N55 mileage thread, you have a 2011 N55, which doesn't require a bench flash.

Are you able to use the MHD app to read codes? Yes, I can read the DME codes, reset them as well as adaptations.

Have you tried connecting to the DME using INPA or ISTA-D/Rheingold running on a laptop? I'm not familiar with this process or what this means, but can research it.

Do you have a JB4 installed? I'm the new owner for this car, but far as I can tell there's no JB4 as the steering wheel controls don't initiate the orange screen.
I added my responses inline to your quote. So one thing I did notice just now. I read the codes and reset some adaptations just to see what it would do. Then I tried going back to stock option and while it failed quickly, this time it turned on my window wipers, but it still wouldn't start after it failed.

Just to add a bit to that procedure you had listed there, you need to be sure the ignition is still ON when you're starting the flash.

1. Battery Charger
2. Doors closed, key in, ignition ON (cluster should show CEL to indicate ignition ON)
3. All draws OFF
4. Phone in airplane mode, make sure MHD isn't already open in recent apps. (The only time I ran into problems flashing was when the phone automatically opens MHD on top of one I already had open in the background, might have been coincidental.)
5. Connect to OBD, MHD opens.
6. DO NOT open any doors as it will turn ignition off. Verify CEL still on before starting flash.
7. Start flash and don't touch anything until it's complete.

Have you been using the same OTG adapter between the two devices you tried? Maybe that has some sort of problem.

Thanks for adding in the other steps. I can confirm this is the procedure I'm following as well. This is my fourth OTG adapter I've actually played with and all four produce the same result. I really think the issue is between the software and the DME. I'm not sure what the link between the two is.

I'm waiting additional feedback from MHD but it's not looking too good. I can read codes, erase them all thru the cables as well. I don't even get a percentage on the status of the flash. It'll just state connecting to the DME, couple chimes, couple lights come on, then failed to authenticate, failed to write the DME after 5 minutes. Car starts back up after about 15 minutes.

I am experiencing the same issue. 2011 x5 n55 e70, I verified I also do not need the bench flash. I have contacted MHD last night with a lengthy email. Did you ever find a resolution to this?

First i've heard of not being able to flash on MHD, Its definitely between the software and DME. This last MHD update has been an adventure for most. I'll sub, i want to know the cause of this..
