Suspension Refresh Questions

I've got all the components of a basic refresh if anyone is interested. I sold Ludwig (330i e90) this year and the buyer didn't want make an offer on the parts.

Doing a front & rear refresh is a lot of work. Most people do the front first & then the rear second in separate jobs.

I think that's the kit you are referring too..

I would get M3 differential bushings not included in the kit. I'd also get a new, rear diff bushings.

The remaining bushings in the rear subframe probably don't need to be replaced now, but will start wearing out in the next 25,000 miles.

You should consider doing SS brake lines while you have the rear subframe out. They are considerably easier to do when it's out of way.

Guys, speaking specifically in terms of the front end… is there any advantage to the M3 control arms etc if you’re otherwise sticking with the OE non-sport (regular springs + Sachs dampers) setup?

They're lighter, better bushings, and allow for more negative camber. So, yes.

18months ago I did a full refresh on my Euro E90 330i.

I replaced:

Front: Arms, drop links, track rods, top mounts, Bilstein B12s.
Rear: Subframe and diff bushes, all arms, ball joints in hub carriers, drop links, Bilstein B12s.

No M3 parts were used. The difference between 10+yr old suspension and new stock is so stark. I was not disappointed that I didn't use M3 parts.

I did the work myself on a two post lift over a long weekend. It took 24hrs of work time!

You can always quickly add M3 wishbones. Find some on junkyard, pop in new bushings, call it a day.

UPDATE!

So, i ended up going with front refresh kit from ECS level 2 i think. This came with m3 control arms, m3 tension strut, front strut mount, sway bar bushing, heavy duty endlinks from meyle, and tie rods which were oem i believe. Round $700 i believe.

My buddy helped me put everything on at his lift took around 2 hours maybe. Minimum hiccups, just a few stubborn rusted bolts. Unfortnately, didn't really get to enjoy the upgrade itself. Funny thing is two days later one of my rear shocks shot. Don't know if this was a consequence of the stiffened front end or not.

So, I ended up buying coilovers. Went with BC racing coilovers the street ones nothing to crazy. Installed myself on jack stands wasn't too bad.

All together the ride of the car has transformed mad stiff and planted on highway and around corners. A lot of fun to drive. Wheel shake is completely gone. The pulling right or left on hard breaking still happens sometimes but not as bad as before or nearly as much. I noticed it once maybe. I got an alignment after front end stuff haven't gotten another one since as I have wheels ive been trying to get on. Maybe the pulling will resolve after that. or maybe steering rack problem. Not sure. Not really a big problem anymore though.

This was all back in september.

Ended up not even using strut mounts so I have brand new one for e90 if anyone is interested I would let them go for little to nothing.

Suspension wise looking to get a strut bar, maybe a thicker or heavier sway bar too. Any suggestions on ones that are good on e90?
