You have to remove the rear roof light to see the antenna diversity module which is backward and you will see this:

same side view where the connector 1 (on the left) contains 6 pins where each one is (Pin assignments):
Types abbreviations: A = Output - E = Input - M = Earth - V = Supply
Pin Type Description
1 E Signal from CA control unit (CA: Comfort Access) to remote control receiver
2 M Earth.
3 V Power supply (terminal RAD_ON)
4 E Terminal 30 (power supply for remote control receiver)
5 --- Not used
6 A Signals from remote control receiver to Car Access System (CAS)

The pin 1 is the nearest from you or at the upper part on the pic and will miss if the CA module is missing in your trunk.
But don't dream i 've also a 2009 with comfort pack which didn't have the comfort access included ... So i did it !

Hi,

I am trying to remove the front center console so I can have easier way to run the CA harness to the CAS and JBE and the doors. So the only thing left is the console itself. there are 2 hidden screws on each side of the shifter and there are 2 nuts in the rear below the rear CA antenna. Also unhooked the hand brake cover. I thought it will slide out but it didn't. It was loose though and I didn't want to yank hard on it and break something.

Anyone can shed some light on this

Thanks

RB

Basically, yank hard enough and the handle will come off. It's basically two notches on opposite sides that are "locking' it on. If you pull back the boot section over the handle you should see exactly what I speak of.

There is no way I could be pre-wired for this already? what would be a quick way for me to check, do't lose anything by checking.

bmw won't prewire cars , especially for options that are not an official retrofit like the CA

we can talk about the price, not a problem. thanks

Are the connectors in the door harnesses able to separate for you to add a few wires?

Where'd you locate the ones you got?

I didn't get to the door harness yet. I will let you know when I work on it and will take pictures.

Locate what ones? You mean the CA harness, it was made for me my Dumitru, he posted on the form.

Hey thanks, I was asking of the door harnesses but I see they are actual harnesses sold by BMW.

I'm glad to hear that this retrofit ended up being a success. This write-up seems to be more thorough than the one on the ********* forum and im sure this will help out a lot of people.

Is it possible if you could do a cost breakdown?

Can you summarize what you needed to do, to resolve the issue of CAS key IDs and the new CA fobs, and getting them to recognize one another?

What do you mean CAS key IDs.....the new CA key fob worked fine all I had to do is plug it in the car the first time turn the car on then turned it off, locked and unlocked car. The CA key fob was recognized.
So now I have 3 key fobs....2 are non CA key fobs and the new one

Hope I answered your question

It is my understanding that the CAS has ten fob IDs encoded into it, and when you order a new fob BMW NA sends a fob with the next ID in the list...and if (for some reason) you have already gone thru 10 fobs, you then need a new CAS with 10 more IDs.
  • four non-CA keys can be active in the CAS at the same time
  • two CA keys can be active for CA functionality at the same time

I had assumed (apparently wrongly) that when you retrofit for CA, your existing CAS would need to be replaced with a new CAS with 10 CA fob key IDs encoded in it, which your new CA fobs would match. My earlier post was as a result of my attempting to get a better conceptual understanding of the CAS and IDs and possible implications to CA.

There is no need to replace the CAS or worry about key ID's. All you need is the CA key from BMW which will come with the next ID according to your CAS. As i said before, CA can be ordered even if the car doesn t have CA from factory. The order process is the same as it would be for a normal key and the ID will be the next one in the row (from your original CAS)

I am very glad Ramez did it, it s an example that you don t need too much technical knowledge, only the will and time!

CA retrofit it s an easy one and worth all the money☺️

This is amazing. The only thing I could think would be a video showing the updated CA in operation.
