New Member - First BMW, finally

Hi All,

New to forum, browsed for a while now while searching for an M-Sport LCI 325d Coupe which i have found in white with Style 405 wheels and black leather, collecting it this weekend hopefully.

Dropping out of a Seat Leon FR into a BMW is like night and day, looking forward to the 6 cylinder smoothness

Hi all!
Laurence from Northern Ireland, TalkToFrank is my forum name on a few forums so I've stuck with that!

Just bought an E91 335i Manual in black last Tuesday (7th August)

I'm brand new to the world of BMWs apart from owning a few when younger. (E30 325is, E36 320i, E36 325tds)

In my one week ownership I have dechromed badges and windows, cone filters & disconnected the exhaust valve.

Plans are decats, front mount and map, and try to keep it as healthy as I can!

Greetings

Recently bought a 56 plate E90 335d sport. Had several E36 Evo's before this so not new to bmw. Still getting used the autobox after coming from cabled throttle system of the Evo's.

Looks to have been looked after and maintained well. Was owned by a Nissan GTR specialist so a bit of peace of mind there.

Mod's have already started. So far only fitted gloss black grilles and 19" alloys. Am looking to get corner splitters soon, did order a pair but returned them as they arrived damaged and looked really flimsy.

Looking to get suspension next and leaning towards Bilstein B12 or the HR cup kit

Few pics below
Standard

Alloys and grilles

The alloys are 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear. 235/35/19 & 265/35/19. The right side fron and rear rub slightly so thinking of rolling arches on rear and changing fronts to 225/35.

Any down sides to rolling rear arches? Could go to normal 255 width I guess but would want to keep the 35 profile as I like the extra cushioning and don't want to risk cracking rims with low profile tyres. Almost all OEM 19" alloys I looked for on ebay had welds from cracks.

The rubbing on just the drivers side may have something to do with the slightly wonky suspension setup on these cars....

See BMW designed this car predominantly as LHD and to counter the weight/balance of the driver (on the left side of the vehicle), the left side of the car rides a touch higher so that when loaded with the driver, the car was more or less equally balanced with regards to ride height.

Thing is, when BMW brought the car to the UK market, they didn't adjust this setup for RHD so what you find is that in a RHD car loaded with just the driver, the car naturally leans more on the right hand side but even more so due to this suspension setup. Most people don't notice this but it is fairly well documented on various forums, even here.

I'm sure there are shims available to counter this, I'll see if I can find a link for you, unless anyone here has one to hand?

EDIT: here you go - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E90-E...-/382433087726

The cracking on a lot of the alloys are down to the use of run flat tires, the super hard sidewall is unforgiving and a few nasty potholes result in the alloys you've seen, this is massively negated by running normal non run flats in most cases, though some revisions of alloys are just weak.

Welcome. I'm new here myself. So far so good, very helpful lot and have helped with a few issues I've already had.

I love that colour, graphite grey is it? Was looking myself for that but just couldn't find one with spec and mileage I wanted and the budget that I had.

The black grilles make a big difference imho, don't really like that chrome. Was the first thing I did on mine.

Just joined

Hi, just joined and hoping that there is knowledge on here that won't cost me as much as handing my car over to the BMW garage.

New E90 owner

Hi all,

I got myself an 07' E90, 93000 miles.

It's a great car and I love almost everything about it. But it's developed an annoying whistling sound, that I think is coming from the offside wheel.

Been to 4 mechanics. None could identify it.

All brake pads and discs changed. No sign of bearing issue.

The noise only comes when moving, it can get quite frustrating!

Please help people. I'm keen to keep this car, but it's driving me nuts! Costing me a lot too.

Anyone in Romford, or near, who could help identify it?

new E90 320d M Sport Touring owner

Hi guy im new to the forum scene and after some help. Sorry for the load post.

I purchased a 2006 320d Tourer with the m47 engine.
on started to notice a burning oil smell after driving for a little. I found oil to be leaking from rocker cover area onto the exhaust. I have since replaced various things to try and rectify the prob but its still leaking.
Im getting oil in the air filter housing and it drips through the little hole at rear then onto the exhaust.
I have replaced....
*Rocker cover gasket
*breather filter
*injector seals
*turbo has been replaced
Has anyone had a problem like this before thanks james
