Is this a new installation of BMW Standard Tools (BST) or was it working before and just stopped working? Is the cable new or has it been shown to work in other installation? Do the other BST components (INPA, WinKFP, Tool32) function normally or not? |

OK, I understand you've tried installing BST using several different packages. Nevertheless, the first thing I'd do is completely uninstall and erase all of it.
Then I'd download BST from the Bimmergeeks link: https://www.bimmergeeks.net/downloads You will not need a daten download to use NCSExpert or many INPA functions with the Bimmergeek BST installation - you will only need the daten for WinKFP so just forget the daten for now. The BG installation should already have filled the directory C:\NCSEXPER\DATEN\ Let's see if that works or how that fails. I understand you read somewhere about restoring the VO using ssd files. I can't imagine how your CAS and NFRM could both 'lose' the VO and without reading that thread, I have no idea how it might relate to your problem. But maybe someone with more experience can chime in here. Last edited by dpaul; 11-20-2019 at 12:18 PM.. |

As far as I know everything can be done from the computer
you set up Standard tools on . This includes changing the production date for installing the newer options. The only reason to set it up on a SSD at least for ISTA D is its a big program and you want it to be portable. Also I agree that starting over with the bimmergeeks.net downloads is the right approach . We know those work and have fairly uptodate datens already included. Also we know how to check the issues with the install on those. Before you do this stuff you need to make sure your PC has the base Microsoft programs that make this work. This means all the Microsoft C++ programs and I believe NetFrameWork 4.7 or better. It's a good idea to list which windows version you have. Also the Bimmergeeks download has the update tool for datens plus DrGini for updating modules as an alternative to winkfp. Last edited by ctuna; 11-20-2019 at 12:21 PM.. |

I think you misunderstood- we were talking about ssd files, not solid state drives. It was part of an off line conversation, so sorry for the confusion

Did the ocx files install OK .
Win 10 should have up to date and complete C++ files and netframework 4.7 and better. The big difference between win 7 and 10 is the cmd prompt is now called the power shell. There are two version regular and Admin . Right click start to select either from the drop down. could be some of the diesel files are missing. You need to find those I think this has come up before. I don't know if the e89 daten on there site contains them. As a sanity check you may want to try your setup on another car. You don't have any aftermarket tuning devices on the motor do you? In the gas models sometimes this will interfere with diags and coding. Juice box comes to mind. Last edited by ctuna; 11-21-2019 at 11:55 AM.. |

Did you load those from the admin login which is most
easily selected in win 10 by right clicking on start and selecting it from the admin WindowsPowerShell(Admin) selection. |

Find another car a try to verify your coding setup.
A gas car if possible with a 6 cylinder motor. (because I believe the Bimmergeeks download and most other downloads are biased towards these) You might also post a printout of functional jobs screen shots from Inpa. The ones that show the modules. diagnostic manual ista/inpa https://bimmerprofs.com/diagnostics-inpa-part-1/ https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...xo19teM9vkTF-C https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...7x8H3pN8h1fMuF https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-P-actually-do |

There is not much to it if you have a stored copy of FA - you make a text file with the appropriate VO and a header and footer. Here's one I've used so you can see the structure: M E90_CODIERSCHL ALL A 001 WBAPL33549A515442 E90_#0911&LCSW%0354$7SP$823$845$850$853$876$8SM$92 5*PL33-A090|0000000|0000000|0000000 Just replace VIN with yours and the string starting E90_ with whatever's in your FA.trc. If you don't have an FA.trc, fake up the option list to the best of your ability. Obviously, the file extension needs to be ".ssd" but the name can be anything. I used the last 7 characters of the VIN Put the ssd file in your NCSExpert/Work directory Load NCSexpert using Expert or Factory Coding mode, not Manipulate Choose "Start" (F1) Choose "Open File (F5) Select your ssd file Back (F6) Process ECU (F4) Select CAS Choose "Change Job" (F2) Select FA_Write Select "Execute (F3) |

https://www.mdecoder.com/ You can then manually construct your ssd using the options list. It likely won't be 100% complete but that won't matter for now. Last edited by dpaul; 11-22-2019 at 08:49 AM.. |
