My next mod...

Came home a little bit early today and my dad left note that the postie left a card for a parcel to collect at the depot as he had missed RM this morning as he was out posting an item for me

I rushed over to RM sorting office with 3 minutes to spare it closing and picked it up. I was so excited was like a kid at xmas ripping it open in the car. Got to give it a quick clean and fit - I am nervous about fitting it as I am not to sure how to

Mistryn,

That is possibly the best Mod I've done and no doubt so will you, I think

It transforms tthe fel of the car so much and I absolutely love that it's grippy soft material! Easy enough install as well. If you know what you're doing, it should take no more than half hour

Shout if you need any help

Sam - I blame you

I was going through ebay and saw the wheel but thought nah and then i was looking at your build thread and saw when you intalled the wheel and went back to ebay add...

I will pm you in a bit as I am not too sure how to fit this, i did have a look at the guide in the link but nervous about the airbag

Yea this feels a lot more weighty feel than the one on my car

That the proper M3 one?

You'll like that! I added the pull paddles to mine and they're epic.

If you're in the area even I'll do the swap for you since I've fiddled with this a few times now. Just let me know If not, I can walk you through it step by step on the phone.

Re: the blame, I'll take it on the chin. It's a bloody good mod dude.. PM how much you paid for it... I do keep an eye on ebay for the wheel to see how much they fetch.. but haven't been on top of it as of late!

All the guides say there are holes in the wheel to poke various implements in order to get the airbag off.

None of them seem to say that the hole is covered and you have to feel very gently to find it. Then pierce the material with the aforementioned implement to pop off the bag.

The wheel nut will probably be king tight. Resist the temptation to use the steering lock to hold the wheel as you undo. 99 times out of 100 it won't matter, the 100th time the lock may give!

The wheel will probably be even tighter on the splines/shaft. Don't break your nose when it finally does come off!

Yup the pukka M3 wheel with the blue/red stitching. Originally I was looking at the the M sport one but missed one that went for £130 few weeks back. The paddles coming with this was a bonus as I was going to buy a pair for the for sales section

Many thanks for your kind offer I may do if I am in the area. I will PM you my number. I really like the thick padding all the way around the wheel, something that can give you bit more grip/feel with what the steering is doing.

blame... Im only joking the way i see it is an investment as Im sure I can make money back if I do come sell it on

Many thanks for the tips Mike, I did read its a bit tight taking it off so what I may do is leave the nut half turned on the wheel so it doesnt come off fully and whack me in the face

Im more nervous about handling the airbag

Mistryn,

Honestly dude, it's VERY easy to do and I have the tools pretty much in the car for the job lol, so happy to help no problems Are you going to "THE RUN" this Saturday?

The Airbag module I too was nervous about but really, nothing to worry about. Before you make a start, I can run through the things u need to do and you'll be fine

Great mod. You'll love it. Fairly easy to change. Disconnect battery, and use your new wheel to work out where to stick your screwdriver to push the wires that release the airbag. Just pops out if you get this right. Rest is easy.

I was thinking about doing the same mod, providing I get a reasonably priced wheel!

My E90 is an SE spec, and when I drive my 5er (m-sport spec) for a while and then back to the E90, the steering wheel feels crap!

We can use the airbag from our old wheel right?

I imagine its better than the Msport wheel and that feels way better than the SE

Fitted the Msport to my SE and happy enough with it.

Thats exactly where i was heading, then picked the wheel up in the classifieds. As you say OEM just seems to look better.
