SGS trolley jack
Anyone bought one of these? EBay have got 10% off everything today so I've just bought one along with a few other bits. It looks pretty good and the price seems to be the best around for the same sort of jack.

How about the ground clearance? I have a similar jack but have to drive up two blocks of wood and then jack it. Is everyone else doing a similar thing? I hate this though due to time etc. I know you can get low profile jacks but still no good unless it is a long reach, which then you are talking big money. I'm talking about jacking up from the central locations by the way.

Never used the central points. When I used a mates jack last time to work on the front of the car, I used the rear jacking point and jacked it up high enough to get an axle stand under the front jack point. Then when I'd finished one side I did the same on the other.
I doubt very much that the one I've bought will reach the central points. |

Well it arrived yesterday and I used it today so I could replace my rear pads.
It's a proper solid bit of kit and very heavy. For just under £70 you can't go wrong. However, it still isn't low enough to get under the jacking points on my standard ride height E91! Still had to drive on to a bit of wood to gain the extra few millimetres required for it to go under. Overall though I'm very pleased and would definitely recommend it. |

What's the problem? Place the jack in the proper central position without the extension arm. Use your hand to start the lift. Once the jack is tight against the jack point stick the extension bar back in upside down and start jacking as you would normally do. I can lift the car in under 1 minute this way. For the rear you'll need a couple of bits of wood or something in between the jack and rear jack point to get it high enough. Easy. |

This is what you want guys, had no problems getting under the front of my lowered E92 when swapping over wheels.
