Serpentine belt touching?

Guys, I've been noticing a streak line mark on the serpentine belt about 4k miles ago. I've started the motor and looked at it while the belt is turning and I don't see obvious fraying or bumps other than prints. I got 152k miles on it.

I'm thinking motor mount is slopping low and touching something but if it does won't it cause hitting the subframe and show more dramatic than something brushed up on it? I'm on tune only and do spirited driving every day. Thanks

Overall the belt is in good shape for the mileage. [IMG][/IMG]

That looks like the way the belt was molded, that belt is not touching anything.

Thanks I checked it time to time years ago but never saw this before till 3-4k miles ago. Hopefully if there is an easy way to see if the power steering pulley is touching or not.

If you are still on the original belt at 152k miles I would replace the serpentine belt and tensioner. Check the power steering pulley, if you see any cracking, missing pieces, etc. replace the p/s pulley with the ecs metal one and the motor mounts. Also make sure you don't have oil or coolant leaking onto the belt, if so repair those as well.

Post said he noticed the line on the belt 4000 miles ago. Not that the replacement has 4000 miles on it.

What is the build date of your call, there is a SIB for up to 4/8 for the power steering pulley hitting the subframe and damaging the belt and pulley.

Yeah my build date 9/2007 so it falls under the SIB.
I'm reading on about the thread.

I have 152k miles and never had any hiccups other than this mark. I guess I need to take off the IC pipes to get a better look at the PS pulley.

Is there a better way to check it?

I took apart from the top air filter box and charge pipe out of the way but can't see it from the top.

I decided to go from the bottom(removed shield) with Galaxy phone with video. Better than top but still can't capture the area. I can say that using my middle finger, I can squeeze it in there and feel the lowest part of pulley and subframe...then measure my finger with caliper...about little shy of 3/4".

As for the pulley, I see it's smooth around the edges and no abrasions.
Here's the pulley picture:

So I think I'm not touching. False alarm IMO.

Are you suggesting that I replace the motor mounts even though it's not touching yet? What other problems can crop up?

Ummm....YES!!!!! Your 2007 uses the old style mount and front subframe. Once they touch you're toast. Try to bundle it with another job like an oil pan gasket, or new turbos if yours are shot. Replace both sides with the upgraded 335 is mounts.

Gotcha. I figure it has to be done anyhow.
I'd like to replace oil pan gasket. Does doing the MM job requires taking off the frame that is in the way for oil pan and turbos? Is that the reason for bundling them together?

As for the 335is mounts, I heard only the right side is unique and left side is the same. Why do you say "both" to 335is MMs?

I'm sure I can look it up...but I want to talk about this for KB purpose.
Is auto trans less susceptible to frequent or heavy motor movement than manual car? My car is auto. I have owned other cars that are manual.
It seems that manual gets more aggressive shifting vs autos that are softer shifting by redline. Manuals can skip several gears at once, where as autos shift sequentially in most cases(2 gears in upper limits).
