Maryland Emission Inspection?
Hey guys -
I'm relatively new to the area - moved to Maryland from New York last fall. What does Maryland do for emission inspections? I received an inspection notice for my old car shortly after registering here, but got rid of that before inspection was required. In NY, emissions were part of a yearly safety inspection, but for ODBII cars, they just checked for the CEL. No visual inspection, or exhaust testing. What is required here? What do you guys with aftermarket DPs do? Thanks! |

They check for any CELs on the dash. I never really* pay attention when I go...lol You'll pass, so you have nothing to be worried about.
Edit: Its the same as you described. Just turn your tune off and you should be fine.

They will plug into your OBD port. There is no safety inspection or sniffer/dyno test. It takes about 5 minutes once you are in the bay. With DP's as long as you have some method of clearing the codes (jb4 auto clear or DP fix) before your test you will be fine. There is no visual inspection of the exhaust system.
