I have a 2012 335i coupe and recently discovered an oil leak, was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of what it could be [IMG][/IMG]

Two most common leaks are the oil filter housing on the front driver's side of the engine and the valve cover gasket on the passenger side. And I when I say common, I mean really common, like it happens to every single one of us.
Based on your pictures, most of that oil appears to be on the passenger side, so I'd check the valve cover. That looks like a lot of oil. Either the leak is decently large, or it has been leaking for a long time. The top of the engine is tilted towards the passenger side, so oil pools against the valve cover on that side.

After you change the cap, look at the base of the housing next to the engine block for continued leaks from the gasket between the housing and the block. This is really, really common for this to leak.

If its the cap or OFHG you'd see it around the OFH. Thats under the car, so like msjt said , might be rear main seal or oil pan

Update: a friend and I got under the car after it started leaking way worse, as in had to put a quart in just to get to his house, we found the oil pan bolts got loose so we tightened them up and no leaks since

That's a pan leak... I would probably suggest replacing that gasket soon...
And if you tightened the bolts. You likely stretched then way too much. So be prepared for them to snap when you go to remove them. The aluminum fasteners on these cars take "nothing more than finger tight" Ahahah or they strip/snap. |
