upgrade turbo suggestions
relatively new.
Have lots of upgraded parts ie: cooler, catless, intakes, JB4 (i know mhd-dragging feet), etc. turbo wastegates are rattling themselves to death. one or more has gotten stuck open twice so far... what is the current consensus on upgraded turbos? brand? how big to go? |

This guy gets it.
OP it depends on power goals and what fuel you have available 93 or e85. VTT and MMP are junk, go with pure or RB if you want stock style twins. A single turbo will be more reliable and allow more peak hp especially on pump 93. Costs a bit more but do it once and do it right. |

If budget isn't a concern and I'm paying someone to install I'd go single turbo. There are a couple of decent ones to choose from. I'd look at doing a top mount setup, which will cut down on labor cost down the road if and when you need it. If budget isn't a concern and I'm doing my own wrenching I'd go bottom mount turbo. The RB Evos or Pure Stage 2s are a good twin option for either of the above scenarios. If budget is a concern and I'm paying for labor I'd get a more reliable budget option from one of the big names on this platform. If budget is a concern and I'm doing the install I'd get the ebay turbos, personally. |

My recomendation is if you want a little more power with less work and less money get the upgraded twins. If you have the money and time and knowledge to throw a fat single turbo kit on then do that.

Guy is a piece of work. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1222395 <--horrific graphs, bad practices, people told him not to crank timing through the roof and then he blew his motor. He also stated inlets are not worth it on stock turbos which is 100% FALSE. Huge gains, given their cost, with inlets on a E85 tune. Guy is just an idiot. Yes all single kits come with everything you need. Just be ready to spend 5k for a quality top mount like ACF. Docerace is meh, really long runners, poor wastegate placement, doesn't fit AWD, lots of install issues that have been documented etc.

Also I wouldn't run a ots map on shiny new turbos, especially sicne you would probably have new inlets on them and no ots maps are built for that

The OTS maps are not made for inlets and outlets. There may be issues. A custom motiv tune is $250 anyone past FBO should have a custom tune. That is what he was getting at.
