Sat Prep, How do I know if I have it?
Title basically says it all, April 08 build, no premium, no nav, no sirius options. Is there anyway to check if I have it?

Haven't seen an e92 without it yet. You should be fine.

open the trunk, lift up the floor panel.
you should see 2 bundles wrapped in foam towards the seat back. one is for the sat radio the other for the assist/tcu |

I thought sat prep was standard on 2007+ cars.

I run an aftermarket XM unit through the prewired shark fin. I wouldnt suggest using longer than a 20' extension because it can lead to signal degradation.

I believe they all come with the shark fin. My E92 has the fin, but doesn't have the SAT radio.

It can easily be done as a dealer installed option. |

I have a foam covered connector in the trunk, but I didn't unwrap it to look at the color. I presume that it would be for whatever module would go in the left side of that tray in the floor. I already have a connected module in the right side of the tray under the trunk floor.
I was referring to "adding a fin", which is unnecessary as I believe they all come with the fin.

Are they selling 09s with SAT as a factory installed option currently? If so, why would they have to wait until October to get a retrofit? Wouldn't it be the same module as the factory version?

It should also be indicated in the paperwork from the dealer.

It is the same company now so it doesn't really matter. Just get the standard BMW OEM sirius module.

Guys - I just picked up an '09 E90LCI 335 w/out Sat Radio. Is it just a matter of connecting the cables in the trunk to the stock head unit in the car? Sorry if this is a stupid question. An audiophile I am not.
Thanks in advance for any guidance. |
