Dull iPhone question
My BlackBerry went in to the sea last week and no longer functions. Our provider is now offering me the choice of an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5. Which should I pick? Logic suggests the 5 as it's the latest model but I understand it doesn't dock with anything and is slightly bigger than the 4S. Anyone know about such things? Does the IOS6 fully integrate with the Office functions in the car like the BB does? Is it true that the WiFi is problematic and the phone signal is not as good as the 4S?

I've just found out that the iPhone does not integrate with any of the office functions in the car so will probably get another BB.

Go to the BMW website and check - it's full of red crosses for every feature.

Sorry for being a retard, but what office functions can the blackberry integrate with in the car (that the iphone reputedly cannot)? Are we talking about MS office apps?

Totally agree the amount of people i know sold their 4S (loosing money in process) and then spent more buying a 5 is crazy. I understand if you had a 3 or 3GS versions but if you have a 4s then why. Especially with issues with the OS. if the 4s works with all the options then go with that or get an android S3 though not sure how compatible that is as my e90 hasnt got the functions

The only two functions that are relevant are seeing/sending emails and texts
The memory card playback is not applicable as the iPhone doesn't have one, and neither are the SIM card contacts, the iPhone doesn't store the contact details on the sim I was sure I've seen the email / text facility function on HHD based version of idrive though

I couldn't give a shiny shite about phones personally, just want one that does the job. Even better that I'm not paying for it.

Personally, yes, I am a huge apple fan, but I'm not closed minded - I've had two phones, one is always apple the other has been a blackberry and in comparison I find the iPhone does everything alittle more natively and intuitively Like I say, maybe post the specific question, go form there

I may be in a minority here, but having a car that doesn't/cannot integrate my email & SMS with the car is a bonus on two fronts:
1) I get some fucking peace and quiet for however long I'm sat at the wheel; 24/7 connectivity can become tiresome, and periods away are welcomed/deserved respite. 2) Surely reading texts/emails etc is just another distraction to the driver? Of late I've started switching the phone off so I'm not disturbed with (frankly, unimportant) phone calls - I think being bombarded with emails and texts (and the ability to read them) its just begging for trouble.

You can't read in motion but you can have them read to you audibly. Whether or not you'd want the functionality at all is obviously down to individual preference but that's drifting off the point somewhat.

New maps which don't work? No thanks. Different connector plug to the one I've been using for almost 10 years? No thanks. Yet another size of SIM cars which is incompatible with everything else? No thanks. |
