I can't answer the question of whether or not you'll have wheel gap or not. If you are worried about that, get a set of lowering springs. The Bilstein B12 kit will not have wheel gap. The B8's in this kit are paired with Eibach Lowering springs that are matched and tuned to the e90 and the B8.

Regardless. You want to put a top of the line shock & strut with an average, older spring. You should match the springs with the shocks & struts you want so the car will optimally perform.

Bilstein B8's are not in stock anywhere right now. Word is they will be back in stock in August.

If you get the Bilstein B12 lowering kit, you won't have that problem

To cure that bounce/hop/pogo at the rear of the car, install a set of Dinan rear upper strut mounts. They cost $99 for the set (when I got mine).
You can install them yourself with minimal work in about 15 minutes.
On my 330i Sport suspension with Bilstein B6, I still had bounce at the rear UNTIL I installed the Dinan mounts. The mounts instantly solidified the rear vertically.

Do it now.
Thank me later.

Monroe also makes the same part with the hard rubber for a fraction of the Dinan cost - search for Monroe mounts on here.

I've got KW V1's on my E92 xdrive, I really like them a lot. However, I've got the rear tucked into the fender so it's pretty damn low. I really like how it looks, but I've noticed the OEM shocks in the rear make a clunking noise when they bottom out. And they bottom out pretty easily. Could I move to an aftermarket shock like the Bilsteins to correct this, or is my option pretty much just to raise the rear end up a little higher?

Maybe I don't then? I didn't install the kit myself, so I'm confused if the KW's replaced all stock components in the rear or not?

It's not worth waiting. What if you finally get a set and one of the dampers is defective or fails, and replacements aren't available?

This can happen to any part you buy from any manufacturer.

I am still waiting and I think it's worth the wait.

The difference is that the other manufacturers all have additional parts in stock. Bilstein will not have any additional in stock, so you'll be screwed. They've really dropped tha ball with not being interested in producing parts for our platform.

I went with the bmw pss kit because I couldn't drive around with a blown rear shock for any longer, and I'm so glad I went somewhere else, even though I originally wanted a b12 kit.

How are Bilstein B8s with Swift Spec R Springs?
I was originally going to go Koni Yellows but seeing as my 335i is going to get a complete M3 rear end conversion I will need to be running M3 specific rear shocks and unfortunately Koni does not supply any M3 application shocks front or rear

The only thing I’m left with for a static suspension is Stock M3 or Bilstein B8s because I am dead set on running the Swift Spec Rs

Anyone got any experience on the setup?

Sorry about the old thread revive but Bilstein B8 struts/shocks sells at good prices in Germany at the moment. Ordered a rear set (2 shocks) for my E90 today for 166,40 € + 15 € shipping to Sweden, thats around 203* $ including 19% tax and shipping. In Sweden I would normally pay around that sum for one shock + shipping. A good tip for any EU European.

* no lifetime warranty though, just "normal" European 1-2 year warranty

On rough roads it can be rather bouncy at times as well. The at times it is as smooth as butter. I am wondering if it has to do with the fact that the Eibach springs in this kit are a special linear design?

Wondering if there are more effective springs out there to pair with the B8 dampers?
Do you have M3 control arms ?
