Actually you have a small budget. Plus you ca not even do the work yourself so forget about building something crazy 600 HP that has never been done before, labour alone is probably more than half your budget at any decent shop .
More so if you want something that has never been done before !

I also don't understand how this is a shop sponsored car when you said in your first post that the money will be from parting out the n52 and in the last post in the same page you said to someone that if they can find a shop to do an engine swap for 2k to let you know. So how is the shop sponsoring you helping you?...

If you can get the shop ( assuming is a car shop) to do all the labour for you maybe it is possible. I thought the whole point of being sponsored by a shop is to get some work done by them
You guys are going to be tied up in court for years sorting this one out

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but if you are not doing any of the labor and you want those power levels.... Well, I doubt you will be able to cover it with only 11k.

I'm planning on doing as much work as I can myself. I work in a custom shop were we do cosmetic work (headlights, taillights, wraps, wheels) so all that stuff is happening through my guys. I'm pretty damn handy with working on cars, there's just certain things I don't have the tools to do myself (custom headers, motor mounts, etc). I have $6k set aside already, and based on low estimates, the n52 driveline parted out should bring in about $5k.

The only thing I would have the shop do would be actually getting the motor and trans into the car and fabricating exhaust and motor mounts, and depending on which motor I go with, dealing with the electrical system

Pretty mild build. I plan on doing something pretty similar with the firebird in my sig in a year or so hopefully. But you are right, its not super cheap especially if you want it to last, but the 5.3 block is cheap enough that if it blows who cares. Get another for $3-500.
I have a friend of a friend doing this.

Def most cost effective way.

IMO, if you can't do the swap yourself you better be best friends with someone who can. If you're just paying a shop, forget about it. You need to know the ins and outs of the build so when something goes wrong you're not just taking back to that shop.

If you can do some of the work is still going to be tough not to go over your budget but it may be possible.

I've seen people dropping well over 10K to make over 550HP and they already had a good engine and tranny to start with.

Don't forget that with that much power you may also want to upgrade your suspension and brakes.

good luck

Oh yea, I won't be paying for labor. The firebird in my sig was a v6 5 speed at the start of its life and I've got a few other swaps under my belt so it shouldn't be bad.

Aside from packaging issues, I like this.

LS would be fun as hell in one of these cars, the 427 stroker version I build makes over 600hp and could be gotten past a referee at the smog shop.
