SOLVED: Had to update to Windows 10

Hi all,

When I try an start ISTA 4.01 for the first time I get the following error:

"The session can only be started if a minimum of 2000 MB free disk capacity is available.
You only have -1 MB free disk capacity"

I'm using a Windows 8 laptop with 500gb HDD and 8gb of RAM, which should be enough for ISTA.
Any ideas?

Have you checked your disk space and run a diag on your hard drive?
Maybe compact your drive?

I have 350gb of space free on my HDD, but I haven’t ran a diag/defrag recently. I’ll try it and get back

You might try Bimmergeeks standard tools
and there old ista download is at the following attachment .
Standard tools must be installed first with this version.
You might want to look at Ista problems links.

Question Did you say Windows 8?

The -1 leads me to believe this an architecture problem. As in Windows 8 is not supported by ISTA. That O/S was released in 2013, time to upgrade, if only for security reasons.

Yea I tried the link ctuna sent and got the same error. Guess I’ll try and upgrade the OS, just not sure if my laptop can handle Windows 10/11

windows 7 through 11 should work if they have all the C++ redistributables
and netframework 4.7 or above .

Always get Inpa working first as the interface setup is the same and Standard
Tools if very useful.

I have used both windows 7 and 10 no problem .
I don't see why anybody would want to use Vista.

Yea I’ve got standard tools already working, not sure what else I could do. Might do a windows reinstall at this point, but INPA + google translate is working decently for me.

Had the same issue with a new install. Make sure you make a shortcut on the desktop and run it from that (as administrator).

Verified solution for Windows 7 & 10 (64). Have no idea with Windows 8 since I’ve never used it. Windows 10 should be a few upgrade BTW
