I admit it Jammer, I was concerned that my rod bearings had cancer. The results of the biopsy of the rod bearing polyps came back benign. Still glad I checked.

This is also very true. Although being on the forums alot can be depressing esp on these pages, being informed is helpful. So its def a double edged sword

It's a healthy balance to be informed and take precautions. The reason why we post here is because we enjoy our cars. Don't forget to enjoy your car.

Get in your car and just drive it. If an error light comes on, it comes on. Don't worry about it happening. You can worry about it when it happens and take the next step. Until then, don't anticipate it. Enjoy the car.

I enjoy the car EVERYDAY. But i am very well aware of its potential weaknesses.

Most people can do both. Just because i am on this thread very active doesnt mean i am not enjoying the car. Ozzie feels the same i think. After all he runs 500 + WHP

Wish I would have done this... lol. The autopsy on mine shows aggressive cancer in cylinders 4 and 5. If only I started treatment sooner, it might still be alive today.

Now I'm over here trying resurrect this damn thing.

Joining the throng here.

Bought a 135i N55 2011 a few days ago, was good as gold then the dreaded noise started last night.

Waiting for the 30 day warranty exclusion period to pass before taking it into BMW.

52,000 miles, full BMWSH, no modifications.

Yes, full BMW service history. It had a BMW service the day before I bought it, the only item they serviced was the brake fluid. Condition based service did not call for an oil change until 22k more miles had passed according to the BMW service sheet provided to the previous owner.

I'm hoping I have no issues with the warranty claim, just annoying the car now has to sit unused for nearly a month before I can get it into BMW. I hope there'll be no issues since I have the comprehensive warranty, the car is below average mileage and serviced per BMW requirements!

The car was bought from a private seller otherwise I'd have just dropped it back to the dealer to sort. Doubly frustrating as I've been waiting months for the right spec to appear before buying a car

what are you waiting for? do you guys not have lemon laws? A engine fails in a car you bought 2 days ago you bring that shit back lol...

Also, @ 52k miles the dealer should be good willing an engine. especially if they serviced it 2 days before it got sold. Your post is complete opposite of what you should be saying as a buyer of a lemon lol... wait? No get that shit back to whoever sold it to you asap. Anyone telling you to wait is trying to mitigate their liability.

I'm in the UK, and private sales have zero comeback, i.e. I bought it from a private individual. That individual had it serviced by their local BMW garage the day before I bought it.

If i'd bought it from the dealer, I'd have dumped it straight back to them.

The 30 day thing is BMW Warranty policy, you cannot make a claim within the first 30 days of the policy.

Stupid I know but it is what it is!

I thought so too. At least this is BMW saying it, not like they can wiggle on the service interval if that's what the bloody car is telling them!!

On all my cars I do my oil every year or 5k whichever is sooner!!

Nice, this is the reason I laugh when BMW owners whine about reliability issues,

Haha I hear that, I was lucky, never needed a rebuild on mine. Was done before I bought it and I only put an intercooler and intake on it.

Ran like clockwork and lapped up track mileage like a kitten lapped up milk.

Yeah, once I had Pineapple Racing build my last engine I never had an issue, ran about 10-13psi on an E85 mix. That was my fourth engine in 13 years though and it was slower than my 335i with just the PPK tune,

Yeah they are very special engines. 10k RPM !! I had one for a couple years. Not enough power and room but they are good toys.

Mazda is bringing them back on their electric/hybrid. For space reasons. I thought that was a great idea since they are compact engines. And they will use them intermittently.

Help!!

I bought my 2012 335i used 3 months ago and it has been making this knocking sound. Has anyone had a similar experience? Only makes the noise when car has been driven for awhile and the temperature is close to 250. The knocking is very obvious and can be heard even from 10-15 feet away. Cold starts are quick without any noises or issues.
