Wish my car sounded like a spaceship. Well, I guess it does, but it's definitely a diesel spaceship.

Those are the best kind of spaceships...they go twice as far.

Can you isolate the sound to coming from under the hood or from the rear of the car? Can't tell in the video. It doesn't sound like it's coming from within the cabin.

Well then I'd go with the simplest explanation and say that it's the bearing on the HVAC blower fan. Mine does this, but it's more of a faint screeching that comes and goes (particularly at lower blower speeds).

I'd prefer the spaceship sound.

It's supposedly pretty easy to fix if you want to get down there (the fan is accessible from under the dash with minimal disassembly) and spray some light lubricant. I'm just too lazy to do it on my own car, and the noise is not so constant or loud that I'm motivated otherwise.

Sounds like the HVAC blower to me. Mine had a similar noise when I found out the windshield wasn't sealed properly and letting water in through the blower motor which degraded the bearing on the motor (The noise was intermittent tho, not every day). Does the noise go away when you have your climate turned off?

Hi All,

Quick update, this is happening a little bit less than normal.

However what’s new is when starting the car I get this noise for a second and it goes away? Does that help anyone narrow it down?

Trick question, there is no sound in space!!!!

But in this case, if not the blower, it might be one of the 112 HVAC flaps under there trying to open/close?
