Cautionary tale about BavAuto brand fuel pressure sensors

A few months ago I started having starting issues with my N54 E90 LCI with the following error codes 2AAF, 29F2 and 29F3 with the car occasionally going into limp mode.

Since I’m at 116k with no previous replacement history decided to address the fueling system and ordered new fuel pump and regulator (both OEM) from FCP and also address the HPFP. FCP didn’t have a “kit” but noticed that Turner has one conveniently assembled and confirmed with Turner that the fuel pump is brand new OEM and honestly didn’t pay too much attention to the pressure sensors.

This was the kit I ordered: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...placement-kit/

Assembled everything and the car ran for pretty rough, barely made it around the block and would not start again — it would stumble for a sec and shut off. After a lot of frustration and few dead ends (leaky injectors, bad fuel pump control unit etc..) trying to figure out what the issue is one of my coworkers kindly offer to take a look at the car at his garage so had it towed there.

Turned out that both high and low pressure sensors from BavAuto were incoming bad. After replacing them with OEM units car started right away and been running like a champ since then.

Took multiple emails but eventually Turner accepted my RMA and this was the slide put together for them to explain the issue and figured it’s worth sharing with this community…

TLDR: stick with OEM sensors and avoid unnecessary headaches

Another tale of don't buy cheap aftermarket junk for your bmw and stick with OEM. Sometimes it's not even bad quality aftermarket but just improper design or part listing (as with many vanos solenoids).

BAVAutomotive and Turner were bought out years ago by ECS and only live on in spirt of their former owners.
