Not sure... This is a BIG topic of conversations for Gm's Especially Corvettes!! Z06's built by different workers with a HP range of 20-30 Hp difference. however it may just be a myth...

$40k for extra 80hp on a car that is not even worth $40k today is plain stupid. Actually, I can't think of any car I'd blow $40k in mods on. Pure idiocy.

Your entitled to your opinion.....

You have to own one to know what its like..... FYI I have had this car since 2003 and have modded over the years.... Most recently adding the Stoptech BBK (I wish I did this one First). It currently has almost 195,000 miles

Their is a stock E39 M5 For Sale in San Diego CA almost $50k it has 120 miles on it.... you should buy it add the 40k S2 and if you got some extra cash laying around..... The S3 package is Well worth another 30k or U could go ESS For a little over 10K installed

Hahaha! It's all a matter of perspective.

I was reading about the cost of owning a supercar in EVO a month or two ago and mentioned how much trouble I'd have replacing the clutch in an Enzo every 5000 miles at a cost of 4500 British Pounds. Whatever that is around here is still a lot a cash! Someone pointed out that if you had the capacity to plunk down the purchase price, replacing the clutch would be more of an inconvenience than an expense.

Any guesses what a set of tires for a Veyron cost? Hint - the Dinan kit for the M5 looks like a compelling value proposition!

Cheers,
Dan

Why didn't you just buy or make a turbo kit for it, you would've made way more power and had alot more money in you r pocket?

Just an FYI of what a $100K M5 sounds like: (Not much substance, but you get the point)

I don't care what it sounds like 40k is pointless for 80hp.

Not sure about the the cost of it's aircraft grade tires, but I think I heard a titanium wheels bolt which needs to be replaced everytime it is taken off is $75 a bolt!! $375 Just to take off a DAWM wheel!!! Assuming there are 5 bolts

As for the M5 discussion... Where is the Dawm Dyno Video?!?! Post it up fizzle!

I have been in the car for thousands of those 195K; Many kills, and its also paid itself back with those drives to the bank cashing checks Ever seen $10K in 50's? - Swizz stole the Beat- "Gettin M5 Monies' "
