I am thinking seriously about doing this to my mother's E90 320i and got the EBA guide this morning. It looks straight forward.
can you do a similar guide for the e90 it would be most appreciated thanks in advance

separate but similar questions for me...

have: '09 E90 premium, non-sport, non-heated seats
buying: sport seats off an '09 with premium and heat.

1. expecting/hoping everything on the seats will work except obviously the heat

2. since the new seats will have all heat-related components what would be required to retrofit the switches and related wiring to get the heat working?

Thanks,
Howard

i have a new set of heated seats to replace my non heated ones the plugs on the originals and the new ones both seem to have the same number of pins do you think this means they are already wired for the heaters thanks both seats are sport

No I highly doubt it. If you go an have a look at the pin out on http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/ I think you'll find not.

I have a question about the modules that perhaps someone could help with. I'm going to go ahead and just buy the new seat module that I need to control the heated seats but it is not clear which one to get. If I search REALOEM I get the following:

so there are several part numbers for cars with memory+heated seats. some of the parts are listed as "ended" and there is only one part that you can buy with memory+heated seats. Part # 61359148265 for $332.35. Is the assumption that this part will work with all e92s? why are the others ended? anyone have any insight?

I'm still working on it, but at this point, I'm just trying to procure a couple of seat modules for a reasonable price. All the salvage yards I've talked to won't sell them (heated/memory modules) without the seats as a package deal. They are quite expensive new..

Mallard, Wow, hoping that's the information I need for my E87 heated seats retrofit project. Thanks.

I am buying a complete sports interior from a salvage yard, and they are heated and I will make sure I get the seat modules and heated seats buttons included. However, what I am sure I will need, is the retrofit cable set separately from the retrofit kit. However, using the part numbers you supplied for the cable set in the post over, say 61 12 0 398 203, I get no hits in ETK.

Anyone know why? Is it not possible to buy the retrofit cable set separately?

Also, do you have the part list for retrofit kit 61 12 0 398 203 (E87)? Possibly the same as the E9x kits (as the retrofit instructions for E9x also includes E87), but it would be nice to have it confirmed...

Hello everyone. Hopefully I can add to this thread, as I have been working on a heated seat retrofit for four days. I recently purchased an 07 E90 (328i) with Nav but no heated seats. Not having them is NOT an option for my wife. Since I am "OCD", I opted to spend more money and track down OEM parts. I have secured a retrofit kit from Roveractive (online), and the surround bezel and switches from my local dealer. This should be all of the parts you need. NOTE-I have non-sport seats, FYI. Here's my snag. My dealer tells me that the retrofit kit is from Germany (they have confirmed the US version kit is not available), and they do NOT have coding to be able to support this. I am stuck! I would prefer not to have someone hack into my wiring and put in aftermarket, and it would probably take me awhile to find all the parts I need via salvage, not to mention money involved. Let me know if anyone can confirm this or not, as the person I am ordering the kit from said the dealer can indeed code it correctly, they have just not done it before and may be reluctant. Thanks! Eric

Contact Patrys. He's the man for coding stuff that these US dealers can't.

I am having him code my PDC retrofit when I get my bumper repainted.

Thanks for the info. I was told by my dealership that a "bigger" dealership might be able to do it. I have left a message for a Dallas, TX dealer. Evidently little ole Tulsa, OK just can't do it. I'll send Patrys a msg.

Your dealership is probably incorrect. BMW edited down the US dealer SW. You can also go Autologic. It's based on EU SW. But Patrys would be my first choice.

Thanks for the info VP. I have spoken to Patrys via e-mail and he will be doing the coding once installed. I'll let everyone know when it's done if anyone has questions. Retrofit kit will be on its way next week from Roveractive-$449.99. I am electing to buy all new, so surround bezel ($50.00 ish) and dash switches ($272.00 ish) will be purchased from dealer. After install (instructions look doable myself, but am warming up to my dealer now to at least have them install), I will have coded by Patrys. Total price with install and coding should be around $1200 or $1300. Probably not the cheapest way to go, but will be completely OEM. I may order the switches online used and save some money also. Thanks to everyone in the past for their posts. Got me going in the right direction! Eric

knappy75, looks like you can't receive PMs yet, I left a 'visitor message' for you asking a specific question on this topic - please take a look. Thanks.

hdrewh,
Sorry for posting this as a post to the thread, but I have sat here with a dumbfounded look on my face, trying to figure out how to reply to your visitor message, and I guess it just isn't happening. Since the conversation wasn't "personal or private", so to speak, I am going to just reply here. Hopefully that will work. It's going to be tough to figure out exactly what you still need since you have the seat part taken care of. I won't have the kit mailed to me for a couple of weeks, but I can go over the parts with you, or visitor msg me with your e-mail and I will e-mail you the PDF instructions. I believe they are posted earlier in the thread. It shows a breakdown of what parts are involved. I know there are different modules involved under the seat. As for switches, since I have Nav, I have to change the surround bezel around my radio and Nav CD hole, since the lower portion is just blank now. The new piece will have the hole for the actual switches, which is just a thin piece of black plastic with the switches at each end, the LED's, and a data cable coming out from it. That just plugs in behind, into a spot where the climate control harness is. My reading tells me the spot to plug it in is already there. My dealer has the switches for $272, and the surround bezel for $50. Justin at Roveractive has these, but is slightly higher. His retrofit kit is not on his website, nor E-bay which is where I originally found him. It is a special order part for him. You can e-mail or call him and order with Paypal or credit card. Nice guy to work with. Bottom line for you after switches and new bezel, is..is it possible to figure out which pieces you still need out of that kit, and can you get them separately? Or are you going to have to eat the $449.99. Hopefully that helped a little. I will try to post some relevant information, not crap, so I can PM. I am retrofitting heated seats, alarm, IPhone cradle/docking station, and putting on new OEM 18" wheels. Hopefully I can help out someone. I owe a lot already to many people here. Eric
