So after the holidays I have gotten some more funds and before I start doing power I want to start with the chassis. Do any of you guys have any ideas to help to reinforce the chassis? I have seen the m3 front reinforcement plate on the e92 328i.

Check out the 328csl build thread. There's a lot of chassis stiffening mods that the guys there are trying out on the 328

Does anyone know when putting the m sport (f30) brakes on do you need to bleed the brake system? Also anyone know how hard is putting the brakes on? I just order the calipers, pads, rotors and dust shields.

Yes whenever you open the system you need to bleed and fill the system...good luck dude...

Based on the questions you’re asking I suggest you find a very thorough DIY and review it fully before committing to this...

You should do front and rear. Don't be like those guys that just get a brake kit for the front and offset the brake balance of the car

The genuine M Performance brakes for the 328i was a front only upgrade:

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...m/34110444738/

I disagree with you for a 328i you can do a front only and code for the option as instructed with that kit, and the bias is exactly what bmw specified it to be for the car. The directions for that kit state :

“Encode retrofit with Software Service Station (SSS) via the path – Retrofit / Sports Brake”

Adding brakes adds unsprung weight and rotational mass that penalizes your performance at a 6:1 ratio for every lb. (If you add 5lbs in rotor weight it’s like adding 30lbs of weight to the car.)

There is not enough, there is too much, and there is just right. Anyone running the370fr/345rr brakes on a 328i is probably losing performance when they think they are helping it. That’s more brake than the E92M3 came with and that’s a much heavier and more powerful car.

Ok with the calipers being bigger (m-sport)up front it hurts the car?????? If so that does not make sense since Bmw make a 6 piston caliper for the 135i. I am just confused a little by this. Can someone explain why it makes it worst in the performance aspect.

You need to be honest with yourself about how you will use the car and build for that purpose. Giant heavy brakes will slow the car down, and if you don’t need the added braking reserve it’s going to negatively impact you (like carrying added weight would) with an upside you would never be able to tap into.

400hp 3700lbs cars need 380/370 brakes for extended track use. A 250hp 328i that weighs 3300lbs and is for street use will be more than covered by 340/300 brakes. Anything larger than *needed for use* is going to hurt performance (acceleration and handling).

Braking distances are determined by traction btw, not the size of your brakes. The best way to shorten stopping distance is better tires (more traction) and then less weight. Brake upgrades are for dealing with heat of repeated/extended usage, not shortening stopping distance.

Based on what you are saying if I am going to track it's ok. But just street driving is going to impact the car negatively. So I should sell the stuff and put that money into something like the m3 strut tower brace.

too large of a brake rotor you will not get the brakes up to temp and will have less braking performances. the large 370+ rotors are extermely expensive and we simply don't need it in a 328i. the 348mm 335i brakes are cheap though and a easy retrofit

I want to have all the abilities in sport mode but not the power aspect of it. Then add a sport button to the car to make it the power aspect of sport mode. Is there a way I could do that. Ex 335is: moves to manual to do the gears but hits the sport button to do the power. Let me know if it make sense.

He's right, 3 stage manifold give 330i power WITH TUNE and is around $250-400 dollars. Free bimmerlabs tune as well. Do it and done. Keep the N52 engine the way it is and only Bolt On mods.

Hassmachine you created one of the best tunes out there! Made it so much easier for us! Do you recommend running the tune for a bit without the 3 stage manifold?

The guy you're replying to is the one who created the free Bimmerlabs tune.
