Brakes for 06 330xi
So I need new pads and rotors for my rear brakes and was wondering where a good place to get xi brakes? Slotted rotors preferred.
I found these: http://brakeperformance.com/site/bra...1410&ad=direct However I'm not sure of their quality. Has anyone used this company? |

Cool Carbon has been making pads for BMW's for a good amount of time now... A lot of members on this board have tried out the Cool Carbon pads and really enjoyed them, but don't take our word for it, check out Mr. 5's review:
Cool Carbon Brake Pads Installed! http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258143 I hope that helps! PM me with any questions. |

Mostly function. I am really light on my brakes and they always glaze over. I'm hoping the slots will take off glaze when it happens and keep my brakes from squealing under certain pressure....it happens with medium pressure on my brakes. Light and heavy pressure don't cause a noise. I don't think it's my break sensor either.

Now my new question is....I've had a set of ceramic pads laying around for my front brakes however I just had them replaced...rotors and pads. Can I just swap the pads out? Or should I get a new set of rotors as well. As far as I can see/feel, there are no grooves or imperfections in the rotor. My iDrive says there's about 40K left on them. I don't want to get them turned as I have read and heard numerous times that OEM rotors are manufactured very thin and designed to be replaced with pads. |

CC pads are a fantastic street pad that many also use for occasional track as well. The benefits for street alone justify their selection.
If your rotors are in good shape as you indicate you can just change to the CC pads and use your existing rotors. Break in may take only slightly longer for the pads to conform to the existing rotor surface. If you have a lip on the rotor from previous pads you could take a very light cut just to clean up the lip and rotor surface, but it sounds as this is most likely not required. |
