Advice on XDrive Square vs Stag Sizing, Style 194
Looking to buy a set of Continential ExtremeContact06 DWS tires for a nice set of all seasons. I had the DWS' on my last e92 and loved them, but for the life of me can't remember if they were a square or staggered setup.
This car is a 2012 E92 335i XDrive. As far as I can tell from my research, my wheels, BMW Style 194 (Double Spoke M Sports) have the following info: Front- 8x17, ET 34 Rear- 8.5x17, ET 37 I want to run a wider tire than the 225/45/17 that is on all four now. I was thinking of going 245/40/17 as a Square setup. I realize that I still probably can't rotate them back to front, due to the staggered wheels. So am I really doing myself any favors with the square setup? Should I go 255/40/17 instead? Am I better off going with this square setup, or a a different staggered setup for everyday driving (non-track duty, winter/spring/summer)? |

I used to run 245/40/18 square on those same widths. 245 is completely fine on an 8"

Thanks for all the responses.
Yes did a little searching yesterday, in regards to the recommended wheel widths for those tires. Ended up ordering and having installed a square set of 245/40/18 of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06. Getting hit with a lot of snow here locally tomorrow. Fingers crossed they are as good as their predecessors! |

Hey there, how are the new tires going? Any type of rubbing? I'm thinking of getting a square 245/40/R18 set up done for my summer wheels. I've got style 193 rims and I don't know if they will fit in the front.

Hey there. Zero running, zero issues. Rides like a dream on my setup. I don’t think you have to worry about that, unless you’re lowered at all. Then I can’t speak to that. Good luck!

One last question, your tires are R18? Right? Because you started the thread out asking about tires for 17 " and then you said you got 18" so I just wanted to double check.
