Sorry guys, been really bsy with stuff for her indoors

Anyway, this is how the unit fits now:

..and this is a comparison picture of the BMW screws that Eonon recommend you use to fit the lower bracket (basically the ones that hold the bottom of the BMW radio bracket in place) and the cheapo DIY screws I used to rdeuce the amount the whole lot sticks out....

You can see straight away that it will make a difference.

Thanks for the tip, definately shaved 1-2mm off the protrusion on mine.

I installed mine to a fit I am happy with over the weekend so will post pics shortly of the modifications I had to make to get it to sit as flush as possible.

How did you get your screws in the top screw holes on the unit? Using the supplied ones they are too thin, the BMW ones have the washer which prevents them getting in the hole and when I used household screws I couldnt seem to get any purchase on anything behind and the screw just spins. I really wanna get these final screws in so I can be done with the whole process.

I had the same issue with the supplied screws.... one was "okay" but the other just spun in the hole.....

I just went digging around the random box of screws I have until I found 2 that screwed in properly.... The unit doesn't move at all now! The 2 I found were thicker countersunk screws, pretty sure they are wood screws but they work a treat!

The supplied screws for the unit itself worked fine for me, so maybe it's just down to luck. The BMW ones definitely wouldn't have fitted.

Yea its not a major issue the bracket holds it fine I just wanna finalise it.

So here's another issue I had which I didn't see anyone else report... My climate control unit had a round cylinderical section which hit the Eonon bracket. I had to modify the bracket to get it to fit. also my climate control brackets were completely shaved down and flush including the metal bracket section so that wasnt the issue. Images below - I am sure I can get the whole unit to fit recessed but it would require cutting out all the foam/vinyl so not worth the hassle.

Also note these before/after pics are taken from an unnaturally low perspective to show the difference, you really cant see much of what is currently protruding from the normal seated position. The result now is good and the main difference is the angle of the climate control unit.

Hmmm.... That's weird.... Whilst my head unit is pretty much the same, that bracket looks completely different to how mine is mounted

Gonna have to check tonight!

I did think it was strange how I never found a similar issue with all my research before buying it. I figured my Climate control unit was different not the bracket?

Either way cutting the bracket didn't seem like a bad idea as the metal is strong enough with a missing section. Also I am aware I bodged it a bit and put tape over the ends after cutting rather than file it... The files I use are in work and I'm too tight to buy my own set for one-use.

Hmmm, pretty sure my climate control unit didn't have that circular thing on the back. I cut the foam down the sides where the bracket fits and that reduced the protrusion quite a bit.

I cut all the foam from behind the bracket and didn't use the BMW screws to fix it, as they have a domed head which causes the whole thing to sit out. I used some DIY type screws which were countersunk heads and didn't stick out as much, so allowed the aircon unit to click in properly.

Hopefully my pictures will explain what I mean, first is screw comparison, second is final fit.

oh yeah i saw your photos from the previous posts, it still sticks out a little but i guess this is as good as it can be, right?

Does anyone has installed a reverse camera? Any tips and diagram? i read you cannot just connected to the reverse light because it doesn't provide enough voltage...

I've installed a reverse camera which works well with the existing beeper and the head unit.

Yes, I couldn't get it to work from the reverse lights, so I found an ignition live on the fuse box and ran a live from there back to the camera. I fitted one of the cameras that are part of the boot catch and that look like it was OEM.

I made sure that I ran the wires into the boot lid so that if the camera dies I just need to buy another an dplug it in. Did this because it was really tight getting wires thrugh the rubber into the boot lid and don't want to have to do that again.

Thanks for the info man.

It took me 4 hours to install the GA9165B yesterday, well 1 hour i was searching for the correct screws because the ones was provided by Eonon were too small and don't fit anywhere.
I followed all the installation tips provided in this thread but still the bottom is sticking out a bit and i also have a small gap between the unit and the A/C which cannot be fixed because there are 2 metal plates sticking down from the unit that prevents moving the A/C closer up to the unit.
I was so tired i forgot to make some pictures after i finished , maybe i take some pics and post them here later today.

Also i have bought the TOPDON Bluetooth 4.0 OBD2 which i can't connect with the pre-installed Torque app of the unit.
I would appreciate if someone can give some info about this matter.
At least i have succeeded to connect it with my iphone's Carista app, so i know the OBD2 works.

For the reverse camera, i have also bought the boot handle cam but i decided to just take it to a specialist to install it for me , i have made appointment to install it tomorrow.

Here my unit installed:

You can see the gap between the Unit and the A/C and the metal plate preventing it from coming any closer.

I succeeded today in connecting the obd2 scanner with the pre-installed Torque app, has anyone managed to make TPMS to work with this app?

Also i wanted to check my coolant temp, my trip computer was showing around 50 degrees Celsius and the Torque app was showing 150 degrees. I hope my trip computer was the correct one.
By the way how much is the normal temperature?

I've just installed an AVIN 8.8" screen in my E93, not the same as the Eonon but it also runs Android (Oreo 8.1). It's a direct replacement for the old CCC screen and system and I love it. Touch screen, Carplay, Android Auto, DAB+ radio, reverse camera, handsfree and GPS. It was a marathon to install but would be a lot easier if I had to do it again. I've now got Netflix, Amazon video/music, Spotify and I picked up a decent deal on a 4g MIFI with 20gb a month for £8 from 3 so it now has its own dedicated 4g Wifi connection/hotspot.

Using Google assistant I can turn on my house lights, TV, heating and any other Google assistant command all from the car.

Sound quality is excellent although I'm no audophile, I did have an issue to start with but turning the media volume down from full to half on the unit and using the original volume from the car sorted that.

Fit was suspect as the screen fixing holes didn't line up with the originals but was easily remedied by sliding the original captive nuts off, trimming around 5mm off the end of the plastic tabs and sliding the nuts back on, this brought the captive nuts 5mm forward and the fit is now perfect.

I've also got a WIFI OBD2 dongle but haven't played with that yet as I'm assuming I'll lose my internet connection when using it?

Do you have a link for the unit?

If you search for ADC Vehicle Services on Facebook you should get info there.

You can certainly get them cheaper straight from Alliexpress but you're on you're own regards fitting and support.

Ebay link

If you phone they'll cut you a better deal.
