Low boost told it needs coding??

Hey guys brought my car into the shop today for intermittent low boost. Shop said it needed some sort of coding and it would have to go to a BMW dealer. Does this make any sense to you?

Assuming you have a 30FF code, you'd need to find the boost leak. I suggest you find a new mechanic.

Coding is moreso for the unlocking of features within the vehicle.

Checking/replacing vac lines is a good step, but not what's meant when checking for leaks is suggested, in this case. We're talking about all of the plumbing from the turbos to the intake manifold. Outlets, intercooler, charge pipe...and all of their connections.

Thank you I'll check that on the weekend. Is there a DIY for this by any chance? All I found when searching was about vac lines

Nope. Read up on the various intake connection points and the vaccuum line diagrams, you can search for them on here. And don't go back to that shop.
